Just left and wasn’t able to even get coffee. I’m a very frequent visitor and on a first name basis with the commons staff and can’t say enough good things about methodical downtown and commons. However- their landmark location staff needs work. They lack the ability to offer general kindness when taking an order so much so that I left without a drink. I ordered the same drink I got yesterday at the commons which was a matcha latte and I asked for a dash of sweetened condensed milk which is typically used in the tres leches. When I tried to order this at landmark the guy literally threw his hands up and said “no I cannot do that, we aren’t allowed to modify drinks” and I was like ok- but they always do it at the other locations, they ring it in as an additional cost for a syrup. He walks away and then comes back and goes “well If they break the rules for you at other locations that’s not my business but don’t expect it here, sorry.” The whole exchange was just wild. I’ve been such a long time supporter of methodical from their very first location to when I moved to Atlanta and only went to momo cafe because they make their coffee with methodical, but I just left really deflated. This exchange happened at 1:15pm on Sunday 3/17. The guy had a beard. Even if you can’t add a sweetener to a drink, you don’t have to be a jerk about it, maybe just explain it kindly and offer an alternative. This review is mainly left for the management staff. If you’re debating going to methodical, their coffee is wonderful, just hit up the commons or downtown locations, staff is wonderful there. Makes a world...
Read moreI hate to write a bad review but two bad experiences deems it necessary. First time to encounter both of these situations; my husband and I frequent many coffee shops around Greenville and unfortunately this won’t be one we go back to.
We went in a couple weeks ago and ordered n Iced Matcha. We both like them iced with no milk (just water) and add honey. When I requested No milk and just water, the girl taking my order said she would ask if they can do that. She asked the barista who gave her a snarky reply of “I guess if that’s what you want”. She proceeded to make them, but we could literally hear them talking bad about us and what we ordered.
Fast forward to today when my husband went in and ordered the same thing. The girl taking his order asked if she could make that and he was told No, that they can’t deviate from their menu. So he ended up not even ordering.
I understand having a menu, but to not replace milk with just water in a tea is ridiculous. We’ve been to coffee shops all around and no one has ever denied to make what we specially want; especially since it’s using less product for them. We’ve actually been charged LESS for our tea at other coffee shops because we only want water in it. Add in that your employees are rudely talking about customers out in the open..
Sorry Methodical, but we won’t be back to...
Read moreAye, what is it with pretentious coffee shops in this city. No good vibes. Which, as a reminder, involves the people behind the counter. Walked into Methodical Coffee at Stone Point (on Stone Point rd..)..unsure of lingo, but anyway walked in and one barista is talking up the customers in the seating area...cool cool. Second person is behind the counter working. Im at the counter looking at the coffee beans, looking for a specific blend, no one acknowledges me. Ok, I'll just keep looking. Few minutes past and I walk around to the register area. Person behind the counter is still working/walking around behind the counter--still no hello. No Hey. Good afternoon? Nothing. I could reach out and touch this person and she still didnt feel the need to at least say "I'll be right with you." Another day in the life...
As in all places I feel unwelcomed, my business and I made an exit. Nothing like walking in a coffee shop and the atmosphere silently screams "uninvited"....
