I've been to this restaurant 3 times, each time becoming worse and worse. The first time: the food was great but, the portions were really small. We had okra stew with fufu and spinach or bitter leaf stew with rice. Had a lot of seasoning and the meat was tender. I had no complaints and was happy to find an African spot in Greenville because we don't have much of that. Also the restaurant was clean and the staff was decent. The second time: it went as it usually did but this time... we had goat stew and rice and okra stew I think. the bowls were mostly sauce and anything that was in it was bones and fat! So I called and told them, they gave what was not given initially and it was fine I guess. It left a bad taste in my mouth because you pay 16 dollars and some change for a meal without the meal? And they knew there was no meat, it felt like they were trying to cut corners. Also the bowls are just small in general. The third time: there were some confusing menu changes without much explanation, I remember when we first came it was off-putting that none of the dishes were described. this was a thing I didn't notice strongly until the 3rd time. Also they struggled to explain the items on the menu often. we had spinach stew and jollof rice and white rice. the jollof rice is not fresh or restaurant made it's uncle ben's spanish rice and it was very rough for some reason. I know I tasted pre-made, pre-bought microwavable rice because the texture and flavor was not like the white. I even compared the grains and it is not alike. There was also no goat meat in the jollof rice like they CLAIMED. Then the stew was also rough in texture, I don't know how to explain it. it was weird and very uncomfortable to eat so I couldn't finish it. not to mention the also very rough feeling meat.... Overall will not be back. Disappointed but, not surprised. I wanted to give them second chances but after the third I am done. Overall wonderful flavor and it brought me back to my experience studying abroad. The service was wonderful. There were definitely some menu item names that I did not recognize, so it’s okay to ask questions. I told our waitress what kind of protein I wanted (chicken or beef) and let her decide for me. What a great decision! She brought me Curry Chicken served over white rice and it might be my new comfort food; it’s a different curry flavor than one might find in Indian or Thai dishes. My husband got the Oxtail dish, which was delicious as well. The Oxtail reminded me of BBQ ribs served over some red rice and beans. Both dishes were served with fried plantains and what I can best describe as a savory sauerkraut (cabbage, bell peppers, onions, and maybe some carrots). I told our waitress that I was hesitant to order the goat dish; I didn’t care for goat when I tried it in another country. She brought me a sample of it. I loved the sauce flavor over rice, but it turns out goat meat is just not for me. However, it was very tender and I would recommend it to anyone who likes gyros or lamb. True to African cuisine, most dishes have some bones, so parents and picky eaters be advised. My chicken had very few bones, but they were smaller so take your time.

Probably the most honest review you’ll get. Me and my boyfriend, like many others, have seen the viral Fufu with Egusi or some kind of stew/soup circling the internet and wanted to try it out. So we made the decision to finally find a place that sold it. I’m honestly incredibly disappointed by it all except the service.

Service: Honestly this was probably the best thing here and it wasn’t even that crazy. Our server was really nice and got us what we needed but nothing stood out about the service in particular. We did have to wave him down a few times but it was only because he was the only one serving and there were 5 tables.

Atmosphere: This restaurant was pretty gross. They do put stuff aside but you can tell they don’t clean the way they should. I used the bathroom twice and the ceiling was caving in and just a bunch of stuff on the walls. On top of that, this restaurant is also a lounge in the evening so it doesn’t give a welcoming vibe at all. You walk in and it feels so off. Very negative energy.

But let’s just say you don’t care about the service or atmosphere and want to know about the food.

Food: I’ll be blunt first and then explain why. I shouldn’t have to pay $20 for a large meal that is equivalent/lesser than the small. My boyfriend ordered the small Egusi soup with fufu and it came on this tiny dessert plate and a tiny bowl that maybe made up 1 cup of food. He got one chunk of meat and the rest of it was the soup. Don’t get me wrong, the food was decent, but not as crazy as people made it out to be. And honestly might not be the dishes fault, could be the recipe they use. Then I received mine. I ordered the Peanut Soup with fufu and this is where it was incredibly disappointing. They said this soup only came in a large and they bring out a bowl the same size as the small. It comes with 5 small pieces of beef and soup. Nothing else, no veggies, no extras on the side, and my fufu was slightly larger than my boyfriends. I had to pay $20 for this dish. I’m Filipino and we actually have a dish that tastes almost exactly the same but better because it actually has vegetables in it. And at a Filipino restaurant you’re likely only paying $8 for a large which would be 3x the amount you’re getting here.

I wholeheartedly believe that they over price the dishes because it’s popular but they cheap out on the servings. They’re ripping people off and it’s not worth it. Please take the time to research a good place because this is just not worth the money. I’m sure there are other places that serve this that actually give well portioned meals for a cheaper price.

Overall, I would never come back here. I regret not taking pics because I don’t normally do that when I’m eating but save yourself a trip and money. Take the extra drive if you have to, to try a different place because this is...

I went to get dinner with a friend. When we got inside the girl at the bar looked like she was doing everything. We seated ourselves at a booth. It was at least 10min possibly 15 before we finally had menus brought to the table with a partial greeting as she was walking away. Our server had come back to the table a few minutes later and got our food and drink orders. We sat for another 10min or so before we actually got our drinks. (There were several dashers coming in to get to go orders, she is doing everything alone) after what felt like an hour the food finally came out the egusi soup wasn't as hot as I expected it to be considering the wait time. We decided to take the rest with us after tasting. I attempted to get our servers attention by looking in her direction but she was walking towards the restroom to clean it with a bottle of bleach and gloves on. When we finally got her attention to get the boxes she was holding a cleaning broom she still had gloves on, she did not take the gloves off she pulled at them to bring them further up her hand. I was immediately disgusted why not remove the gloves before you approach our table and your touching the cleaning broom then go to grab my to go box that I'm taking my food in with the same gloves on. Not sure if they are the gloves that were used to clean the restroom or not either way remove the gloves and give your hands a quick wash after people have visibly seen you cleaning then go straight back to dealing with their food. All the food was left on the table we didn't take anything but upset stomachs. I think she was just overwhelmed had to much going on but that...
