Last night, January 23rd, my boyfriend and I decided we would go out on a little date night since it had been awhile since we have had one. Copper River Grill was one of my favorite restaurants that was close to home and we could easily go to for a good meal and quality time together. When we got there at 5ish we were informed it would be close to a 45 minute wait. Typically I would say never mind and go somewhere else but since Copper River is one of my favorite places I just said we would wait. I expected them to take a phone number so we could go wait elsewhere, but instead said they’d call our names when ready. Copper River has a small waiting area, so social distancing was hardly there plus not many wore masks (yes I know. Stay home if you’re worried about that, but you do have to live eventually so I was okay and wore my mask). We waited the 45 minutes and were escorted to our table. We sat down, looked at the menu, and waited for our waiter. Ten minutes had passed and we still had not seen our waiter, but then he came and took our drink order. He came back about 5 minutes later with our drinks and took our order. He was very polite and attentive even though it was crazy in there. They must have been short staffed because I watched him go to at least 4-5 other tables other than ours. It was around 6-6:10 when we placed our order of our appetizer and entrees, which came with a salad. 6:30 rolled around and there was no sign of our appetizer or salads. Our waiter came and apologized and said they should be out shortly. Another 15 or so minutes rolled around, still no food in sight. I am not one to complain and I am very patient when it comes to busy restaurants , I mean this is my first not so great review of any restaurant I’d been to. Finally around 7pm, over an hour after being seated and two hours of being at the restaurant, our appetizer came and not even 5 minutes later our salad came. My boyfriend and I were very hungry so we devoured both. The appetizer was okay - fries were soggy, but the salad wasn’t as good as I remembered. Around 7:15-7:20 our entrees came. I ordered Steak and Shrimp with loaded mashed potatoes and my boyfriend got a ribeye with fries. We asked for our steaks to be medium rare, both came out super rare - almost raw. It was like just the outside was cooked and that was it. I called my waiter over and asked if he would look at my steak and make sure I wasn’t going crazy. My boyfriend was not going to let me eat it nor was he going to eat his if they were not taken back to be cooked a little more. The waiter politely took them back (he was a great waiter and very kind) and they were back within 5 minutes. He asked if they were okay and the pieces I had already cut were nicely cooked so I figured that it was better. My boyfriends steak was cooked nicely as well. When I started to cut into my steak, I noticed it was still very red and pink and it wasn’t appetizing at all. By then it was 7:40 and I just was aggravated and also upset that it was getting close to 3 hours being at this restaurant. I just gave up and slid my plate up on the table away from me and was finished. I got sick after looking at the steak and was ready to leave. I usually take my left over food home, but I didn’t want it so I ended up giving it to my boyfriend and he could cook it later or throw it away when he got home. Like I said before, I absolutely loved Copper River. It was so delicious and not that pricey for a good meal. I’m not sure if they were just understaffed for the night or do not have enough employees at all due to COVID and their crazy hours they have had over the last few months. I do know that I will not be returning, at least not for awhile. I really hope this restaurant turns around. I would give it 1 star, but our waiter was fabulous and was going a great job for having a lot of tables. We ended up leaving around 8 and it was still busy with a wait. If you do decide to go, I would see if they have call ahead seating or...
Read moreWhere to begin... if I could give less than 1 star, I definitely would! My husband & I both ordered 14 oz Ribeyes, medium well, for our main course. Both steaks were bloody when they were served to us, obviously not medium-well. We let the server know & she apologized and took them back. (I should mention the shape of my steak was long, my husbands was round). When she brought the steaks back out, both steaks were round (mine was a clearly a different steak). My husbands steak was now overcooked and dry. Mine was bloody (because it wasn't the same steak) I sent it back, telling our server this was not the same steak that I originally had and it was bloody too like the 1st one. She advised me that they must have grabbed the wrong one off the grill and would get it straightened out. So I waited. After a little while, Manager (Chef Juan) brought the steak back out... same ROUND steak that was served to me the 2nd time, I tried to explain to him that this was not my original steak, this one was round & thin, my steak was long & thicker, not round. He argued that it was the same one and that he had cooked it himself. (Maybe it was the same one that he cooked, but it was NOT MY ORIGINAL STEAK) He pretty much dismissed anything that I said and then told me to just cut into it so he could check the temp. and said if he cooked it any more it would be well done. (NO one was asking him to cook it anymore, I wanted to know what happened to the original steak I was served). He just kept telling me I was wrong and to cut it so he could check the temp. He was rude, combative and very DISRESPECTFUL. I cut into the steak and it was very clear that the steak was now over cooked, no pink to it at all. I was very upset but he did not seem to care. No apology, no offer to do anything to make the situation better, he just walked away. I tried to eat it, but it was terrible. No flavor, dry and I am not quite sure it was even a ribeye, it sure didn't taste like it and it wasn't marbled like the menu stated (and neither was my husbands). I think they may have served us sirloin and charged us for Ribeyes. I asked if there was a different manager but our server told us the other manager stays in the back. She kept apologizing, but that did nothing to fix the problem and she never offered to bring out the other manager. Another couple was watching all of this transpire and actually called our server over and told her that the chef was very rude and that he was afraid that no one would believe what I had been saying. Then he apologized to me and said he doesn't usually get involved but could see the way I was treated was not right. If Juan was a better manager, he would have at least asked if there was anything he could do to make our experience better. He did not. I'm left to believe he did not care what our experience was. Our bill was over $80. for 2 ribeye steak dinners and an appetizer and that is before the tip. One would think they would care about their customers and want them to come back, but with a manager like Juan on staff, I don't believe they do. Very disappointed in this experience, especially after spending over $80. on a meal that neither my husband or I could even eat. I would not recommend this restaurant as long as Juan is...
Read moreGreat waitress when she came to the table , but she was spread thin . She was handling the bar half the tables near the bar and ringing up take out orders so I did take this into account. We ordered our meal and there was a short wait and we got our drinks and some crescent rolls with hunny butter drizzled all over the top of them great taste but very sticky. Daughter ordered the Alfredo noodles with shrimp . The Alfredo sauce was not brought to full temperature before the parnassian cheese was added so it didn't melt properly and was a little chunky . We asked for the manager and she looked at it and was very nice about it and removed it from the bill. Now I ordered the Ribeye steak a very rare medium rare and a baked potato the cook nailed it !!!!!!! That had to be the best cooked steak I've had in years could have cut it with my fork. The seasonings were light not over powering and the flavor of the steak came through. The potato was a little over cooked for my taste the skin had dried out and was thick with the potato cooked to it and the meat of the potato was a slight burned taste but with extra cheese and butter and sour cream it tasted ok enough to eat. And I was hungry. LOL. Wife had the firecracker shrimp dinner and loved it. Seasoned correctly and I don't think the shrimp stood a chance. She's going to hate I said that. The meal was very good came out hot and other than our waitress doing more than she had to she still was able to give us great service . This place is a three $ listing but not bad on the prices we had three top line meals and crescent rolls with sticky honey butter . And three drinks ( non alcoholic beverages ) and we're at $67.00 left a good tip and actually got to chat with the manager . I do like when a manager actually comes out and asks how our meal is and how we liked it and the service . I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good service and great food but you do pay a little more ....
