I dropped in here because we needed to eat something, didn't look at the reviews, and I am so glad we didn't! We ordered the carne asada platter, and the meat was tender, delicious, well seared, and plenty of it. The beans and rice were classic, and well made, the rice wasn't blown which was great. The tortillas were either homemade or local because they were chewy and yummy, and there was the salsa bar. I tried the green and the tomato salsas, they were both spicy, the green less than the red, but still so delicious! They also gave us a small salad on the side. We ordered one meal for my husband and I and still had leftovers to take home. The service was super quick, and the people very friendly. The inside looked like an old Wendy's almost, and some of the benches were torn, but it was cheery, they have a TV playing Buffy when we were here, so another win for me! They also serve breakfast, so that is also something we will have to try.

There is no innovation here. I feel like I was transported back to the 80's, in Texas, where this kind of authentic Mexican food flows freely. The asada is fork cut tender, expertly seasoned and grilled. Rice and beans because of course you do, and the rice is near perfectly cooked. The service is order at the counter and they bring to the table, and the food came out quickly and piping hot. The salsa went from warm to, "is my tongue still in my mouth" hot, it was glorious. Comfortable and spacious booths, or chairs and tables for the more youthful of backs, makes this place a really classic purveyor of Mexican food. All the recommends, and come by the table and say hi, 'cause we are coming back frequently.

I ordered tamales online, but when I arrived they told me they did not have any and offered to replace it. I got taquitos instead. When i got it all home, the food was looked so unappetizing that I took it back for a refund. Soooo many refried beans and not enough fresh vegetables to balance all of the oil in the cooked food.

I HAVE TOLD MYSELF IM NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN. AND 6 MONTHS LATER OR MORE I APPEAR HOPING IT WILL BE DIFFERENT. NO.1 MENUDO TASTE- PLAIN , BLAND, THEY DONT USE ENOUGH CHILES , TASTE LIKE WATER, NO SABOR ( FLAVOR ) THE MEAT IS UNDERCOOKED EACH TIME, I TRAVEL AND ITS NOT EASY FINDING AUTHENTIC CLEAN MENUDO EVEN STARK STREET DON PEDRO MENUDO IS DIRTY AND STINKS. IT IS GREY IN COLOR LIKE IT IS OLD. THIS RESTAURANT SABOR AZTEC NEEDS MORE COOKING LESSONS MOJARRA FRITA - I ASK FOR MY TALAPIA TO BE COOKED MEDIUM, AND THE COOK WILL SELECT THE SMALLEST FISH ( CHILD SIZE ) & OVER COOK IT , THE FISH IS BURNT AND LIKE JERKY , PORK RINDS. I COME BACK BECAUSE SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE ARE FROM THE OLD OWNER OF DON PEDRO. I HAVE EATEN MENUDO AND KNOW HOW TO COOK IT. AND FISH ONLY NEEDS ABOUT 3-4 MINUTES IN THE DEEP FRIER IN A RESTAURANT. I PROMISE IM NEVER COMING BACK. ONLY EAT HERE IF YOU WILLING TO PAY FOR OVER PRICED AMERICAN MEXICAN STYLE FOOD. ALL OF MY THUMBS AND TOES ARE DOWN DISAPPOINTING...

My favorite spots are cantinas, carts and restaurants of the Latin/Hispanic background; partly because I adore the food but also I like the sounds and happy culture, gossip, enjoyment of food etc that comes with the cultures. Plus they always leave me the eff alone, which is what I want :)

This place did not disappoint; basic, to the point, nothing fussy or outlandishly fancy about the food, which isn’t to say it’s not good, just it’s straight to the point quick comfort lunch/after work spot.

Small docks in stars for not having the nachos as pictured (I hate lettuce and would have ordered without lol) and not fixing your booth seats as it makes the place drab.

All on all while satisfying and good, I wouldn’t say this is a knock out BUT IT IS A predictable comfortable and filling for your dollar...
