The Red Maple Restaurant — Restaurant in Gretna

Made reservation, on a Saturday evening, for my birthday. Did not make mention of the occasion as I was not sure about how this particular restaurant handled birthdays. First off, wonderful atmosphere, very welcoming, a little different kind of layout, but warm and inviting. Secondly, the hostess was wonderful and welcoming, noticed while we were dining that she did a lot more than just seat patrons, she was helping to bus and reset tables also. Runners were awesome and very attentive and helpful. Overall a nice experience so far. Server seemed off. Maybe we were her only table in that section, I am not sure, but there is a separate "upstairs" lounge area. Saw her a total of six times in just over 90 minutes. Took drink order, took app order, came back to check and I sent my wilted (like dregs from two or three different pans) asparagus back (which was comped), to drop the check, and then to check on the check, and then to bring the receipt and card back with a bag for the to go box. Runner brought the food, runner brought drinks, runner brought refills when asked, runner brought more bread, runner got us a to go box. Maybe sit in the upstairs or lounge next time, if we go back. The family celebrated my Mother's 87 Year Young Birthday at this establishment. There were approximately 86 family members that attended her celebration. Members I haven't seen in 40 years or better, but it's all about family and my Mom is our Rock. But the atmosphere and our Server were just so relaxing and very nice it made it all so special. They had us all set up in our own special room. Lighting was great, the conversations were plenty. But to my surprise it was very relaxing. Not noisy at all. Great accoustic surrounding. OK, The orders and appetizers were ordered and in short time everyone was enjoying their food. Great timely manner, meals were served. The food was just just as good as the atmosphere, hot and very much to everyone's gratified taste. We were all kinda sharing a bite of each other's meals. It all looked so good and tasted delicious. Hats Off to the Red Maple Establishment and Staff. They made my Mom's ❤️ Birthday a very special Family Outing. Recommend you get by there sometimes and enjoy a good...

Old school, westbank, New Orleans, at its finest!

This place boasts a fabulous lounge, all wood interior and a cave like atmosphere that really delivers some Old Gretna swanky vibes. I'd LOVE to host a dinner at this place.

The Catfish was INCREDIBLE. Buttery, well seasoned, French leaning sauce wise. I had the Wednesday Steak Night special .. oh man. At $37 for a 16oz steak, that bargain could not be beat.

I asked for the steak to be prepared 'as raw as legal' and the chef DELIVERED. That was the juiciest, reddest, savoriest, ultra rare steak, I've ever had at that price. I took most home and gave it a quick pan sear before eating the leftovers by the slice. Ate off that incredibly prepared piece of meat for 2 days. FABULOUS!
