Firstly, we had to secure this reservation with a credit card and would be charged $45 for a no-show. We arrived 15 minutes before our scheduled 7pm reservation for a party of 3. The host was just finishing up with a couple and was taking their cell number and telling them he would contact them when their table was ready. Upon me telling him we were early but had 7pm reservation, his responses was very abrasive and short, "There are no tables available, come back at 7", and offered no further information, I was expecting something like, you can wait right here, outside, or get a drink at the bar and we'll let you know when your table is ready or something opens up early, but nothing. I asked, "Can you text me when our table is ready", he response was, "Since you have a reservation, we would not be able to text you." We decided to wait outside. It was a little chilly and breezy, and while we waited, my wife said to me that when we're seated, she would prefer sitting inside as opposed to sitting on the outdoor patio because it was too cold. At 4 minutes before 7, we walked back in and stood off to the side, not to block the door. Without saying anything, the host once again was very abrasive and short looked up and said, "like i said, there will be nothing until 7" and I responded "it's cold outside, and we prefer to wait inside, if thats alright". At 7:05, we were finally seated, and as luck would have it, it was at a table on the outside patio. I informed the hostess that we prefer to sit inside, and she responded that this is best they could do. People with reservations get priority to the tables inside. I told her we indeed did have a reservation and we prefer to sit inside. Upon returning to the host stand, the same host, as early, said we could sit at the bar, at a hightop in the bar area, or wait for a regular table, which would be opening when the party sitting at it finishes up, but did not know how long that would be, we told him we would wait for the regular table. We were finally seated at 7:15. We ordered a glass of wine, an ice tea, a rootbeer soda, and a large pepperoni pizza. After finishing the bill, it was $45, but were comped $20, which almost covered the drinks. After taxes, the final bill was $26.34. Knowing the waitress had nothing to do with our earlier experience, I put down $40 cash, and we left.
Not knowing how their sitting/reservation system works, during our 1/2 hour wait, a minimum of 6 parties of 3 more were seated.
The waitress was attentive and professional. The pizza was good, but not great. The host and seating policy was unacceptable and needs a lot of work. Therefore, I'm giving them a one-star rating.
We will definitely think twice before booking another reservation. I would find it hard to recommend The Bricks to...
Read moreThis was my 2nd time here. 1st time I was with the girls and we tried the whitefish chowder and pasta 2nd time with my husband and we had the pizza. Both times the service was great. Restaurant is clean and decorated beautifully for the holiday. The food: the whitefish chowder is absolutely the best! It is delicious and I craved it for weeks after having it! The pizza is one of my top 3 favorites ever! The crust is thin enough that it's not doughy and crispy they definitely make a awesome sauce! We bought a gift card so our family can try this pizza also because we thought it was so delicious. We definitely will return. The only complaint I have on my 1st visit we sat on the patio and I did not like the chairs but the space and vibe was great. Totally a personal preference, it was not a regular chair it was way more relaxed than I like to be while I am eating food. I prefer to sit at a table level and not laid back. So for me to sit at the table level I had to sit on the edge of the chair and not sit back so it was not very comfortable. Otherwise this place is definitely doing dinner the right way! Drinks were also...
Read moreThe character of any restaurant is determined by how they handle takeout orders. When we go to Bricks to eat, the food is excellent. We always get the mushroom pizza, and it is loaded with mushrooms, making it well worth the $25 price tag.
However, this is the third sequential takeout order where we picked up our pizzas, and the mushroom one had 20% of what we would normally get when we dine at the restaurant.
Inexcusable, so this time, I called. The (very) young girl said repeatedly, "Well, that sucks for you. I will tell the cook to do better." I explained that we had called once before on this, but she only reiterated her mantra; it was beyond disrespectful and unprofessional.
The takeaway? No character, and clearly, no customer service. Hmmm, that's what you get when you have a 14 year old answer the calls to your restaurant - they are just not savvy enough to deal professionally with the public. My brother spent a lot of money to treat the family to pizza, and it is crystal clear that Bricks doesn't give appropriate attention to takeout orders, and does not acknowledge mistakes by...
