Ever since Maria's on Calder closed a few years ago, I've been searching for chilaquiles as good as theirs. So we ventured out to Groves Sunday morning to finally try Maria's Diner. I ordered the green chilaquiles, add 2 eggs, a side of bacon, and sub hashbrowns for the potatoes, and when I got my plate I thought there was no way I'd be able to finish all of it. It was so good I couldn't stop myself! While my husband was paying, I overheard another table raving about how great the breakfast tacos are, so I'll be back to try those. I still haven't found chilaquiles to match the old Maria's, but this is the closest I've come locally so far.

Excellent place to eat. A true small down home place to eat. The service was courteous. The food was outstanding. I had the Pozole, the flavors were excellent. The pork was soft, tender and flavorful. I added the fresh cabbage, jalapenos, cilantro and a squeeze of the lime. Delicious I also had the Carnitas plate, everything was wonderful. The beans were make wonderfully, the rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The carnitas was soft, tender and jut the perfect amount of crispiness. The flour tortillas were fresh made. Excellent place I Will return for more.

Family trip to Beaumont/Port Arthur for SE 12U World Series and we were looking for a good breakfast place. I searched for local mexican breakfast and Maria's Diner popped up. Myself, my son and his family enjoyed it so much, we went back for breakfast the next day! The diner itself is small, but we didn't have to wait. We timed it just right both days. The food was really good...tasted like home cooking. The chips and salsa were fresh and they didn't skimp on them. Each of our plates were left empty (all 7 of them) both days. Would totally recommend!!

UPDATE: spoke with Maria’s l
because I ordered through door dash they don’t care that I didn’t get what I ordered because they didn’t bother sending it. Pretty crappy their only Response is to report it to DoorDash. Guess what Maria’s I live in Groves
your customer service sucks because your restart should’ve at least attempted to right your wrong! No worries, I won’t be a customer of yours ever again!

This is a mom & pop place not sure why they want to charge like they are a restaurant on the riverwalk. Not sure I will eat here again. Charged extra for lettuce tomatoes & cheese when someone doesn’t want cilantro & onions! Charged me for extra tortillas they didn’t even...

Very local.grab your menu and utensils and chill.very informal location.no one spoke as i walked in. However...im not a local.i almost walked out.i forgot i was in groves tx and its just the way it is there. My to go order took 10 mins plus. I have been before so the food is good. Im writing this review prior to eating todays order. Post:i asked the cashier if my order was right 4 times and he said yes. Got home and he put cheese in the hash browns instead of the cheese....i called and he apologized and i simply informed him to make sure he pays attention especially if someone told u 4 times cheese in eggs...
