This place was so awesome. Food was delicious, sake was delicious, but what REALLY made our experience top notch was our chef and hibachi master , YOSHI ❤️ (and no he’s not named after super Mario yoshi so don’t get it twisted!) he was soooo nice to talk to, he engaged with our two young children so well, added extra wow factor to his cooking/showmanship to entertain the kids as well as my husband and I. My son was a tiny bit grumpy because he was hungry, but yoshi made sure to give him special attention to help calm him down and show him his food being cooked with love and so much fun energy. Yoshi is a an excellent conversationalist full of interesting stories and fascinating facts. We will absolutely come back and ask for yoshi specifically. 🥳
Pic is of my chicken and shrimp hibachi dinner after I already attacked it lol. Also another thing I remember: yoshi asked questions regarding our preferences on the cook of our dishes, what sauces we wanted, what the kids would like on their food etc. He was very thorough, attentive, and made sure everyone was gonna be happy with their dishes at the end.
💰 Pro tip: I wasn’t sure if our credit card tip would go to the chef himself or the waitress or whoever. So I did ask and if you want to tip your chef directly, please use cash. The place does not have an atm, but some of the surrounding stores in the plaza do. The credit card receipt tips are shared by all the staff. Just keep that in mind if you’re wowed by your chef like we were and want to make sure they get properly tipped for...
Read moreThe chef was a little rude. I get it. He’s “performing” his routine over and over, but you can have a little more personality considering it is one of the reasons people go to these things. Chef started his routine, started flipping broccoli at the guests randomly when they weren’t ready hitting my guests in the face and body, flipped an egg up in the air, which went awry, broke in front of my guest, getting yolk splashed all over her. Another one of my guests told the chef “no vegetables” several times and he gave her two helpings of vegetables. Three of us ordered the seafood deluxe (shrimp, scallops, lobster) shrimp and lobster was very overcooked. Shrimp is usually overcooked in most places anyway, but the lobster was so overcooked you thought you were eating a bouncy ball. Two of my guests didn’t even eat the lobster. When you can smell the sauce BURNING on the cooking surface, it’s making the food taste burnt, and the food had a burnt teriyaki taste to it. Unsatisfying food experience. Disappointing.
To the service…no one came around to see if anyone at our table needed refills or anything else. I had to literally stand up and wave for a server multiple times to take notice that we needed refills and another round. It’s not like we just showed up with a party of 12. We made...
Read moreWhile the food was good, the service was not and they are not allergy-friendly. I have had a beef allergy for 6 years and this is the first time I've had a restaurant not take it seriously, causing me illness. We ate here with a group while on vacation. I alerted the waiter of my allergy as soon as he took our drink order because I needed to know what type of broth their soup is made with. He assured me it was chicken and we had a short friendly conversation about it. As soon as the chef came out, I politely informed him as well, but he immediately got angry at me. The waiter had not informed him of my allergy and the beef had been prepared with all the other proteins. He accused me of not telling the waiter, which I corrected him on immediately. He went back to the kitchen and came out with the beef separated from other proteins. I think he just did this for appearances and did not actually get new uncontaminated proteins. He had an attitude about this for a few more minutes before proceeding with cooking. I was too sick to leave my hotel room the next day and ended up having to contact my physician once we returned home. I am still dealing with the fallout of this 10 days later and have had to miss some work. We vacation here frequently, but will not be back to...
