We went to Capon’s on Sunday night, being the new spot that just opened that week.
Upon arriving, Stephanie, the Hostess, warmly welcomed us, checked in our reservation and promptly walked us over to our table and seated us. The restaurant was packed at 6:30pm. She introduced us to our server Makayla and walked away. Makayla was AMAZING! She made excellent recommendations and was beyond attentive all night. We placed our cocktail orders, which were very good (the seasonal old fashioned). Makayla recommended the Crispy Rice starters and they did not disappoint. We ordered the tuna crispy rice and a shrimp toast crispy rice. For our entree, we ordered the enormous 38 oz dry aged Porterhouse and the creamed spinach, Brussel sprouts w/bacon and roasted mushrooms as our sides. The brussel sprouts were delicious and the steak was very tasty, as were the other sides. In between courses, Stephanie came back to check on us and see what we ordered and how we were liking our experience so far, as well as Angela, the manager. She was also very warm and attentive and asking for feedback on their newly opened restaurant. We liked very much how much they care to ensure the diner has a wonderful experience. They wrapped up the steak we couldn’t finish and instead of bringing to the table, they hold it up front by the hostess and give you a claim ticket for it. I have to say I liked that very much to not have my table crowded with a bag. For dessert, Makayla recommended the carrot cake and the chocolate cake and advised it’s very rich. I told her it sounded perfect with a glass of milk and wouldn’t you know it, she brought me a glass of milk in a Snifter glass! She was so kind to do that! I was very happy and it did pair very well with my chocolate cake! I was a happy camper. My husband said the cappuccino was very good and that the carrot cake was too.
Overall we had a wonderful experience at Capon’s and will definitely be back.

Read moreMy friend Angela the now manager invited me to come try out her latest offering of luxury food. I brought along my mother, and my son both of whom have food allergies. Not only was the service impeccable which going in I wouldn’t have doubted for a minute , but the food was something I’ve been wanting locally that I didn’t want to go all The way to NYC for. Caviar and hashbrowns a rare item found in New York City on some Michelin menus. This is the first local restaurant I’ve seen with it and it did not disappoint. The chefs take on the loaded potato skins was like nothing I’ve ever tried. My six-year-old son ate a full fillet and said it was the best steak he’s ever had . When I called the manager over along with our server he told them he wanted to have his birthday party here ( he won’t but it was funny nonetheless). The restaurant, staff, kitchen, managers, owner, chef, food was very accommodating to my mom and son’s food allergy with no complications. As a good manager, she’s continued to deliver for me anywhere she has been while she helps the owner at the helm of this great new restaurant. They have gained a loyal customer going forward.

Read moreThe décor was upscale, and the staff were elegant, charming, and coordinated — perfectly in sync with one another. It truly felt like a VIP experience. They were so attentive that I’d look down and find my water glass refilled before I even noticed it was empty — like magic. They also remained fully aware of my food allergies throughout the meal, which made the experience feel especially thoughtful. I was a bit worried I might leave and have a reaction, as I have at other restaurants, but instead I went home satisfied.
They even accommodated our large group as walk-ins, something other restaurants had refused to do. The food was delicious, though with such a luxurious vibe, I expected the dishes to be a bit more distinctive. At a restaurant of this caliber, fried food feels out of place, but the menu was clearly designed to please a wide range of guests. The music, however, was a little too loud, and its genre didn’t quite match the otherwise refined atmosphere.
Still, it felt like our own little slice of New York City fine dining tucked away in New Jersey.
I’d happily recommend this place and would definitely come back if I had an acquaintance I...
