Among China's traditional holidays and celebrations, none ranks higher in importance than the Lunar New Year. At its core, a celebration brings the family and friends together with food to include dumplings, spring rolls, cakes, fish, and pork dishes.
Located at the Riverside Mall in Hackensack, the front of this establishment is flanked by the iconic horse statues that symbolize strength. Dim lighting, sophisticated decor, and an intimate vibe made P.F. Chang’s our choice to begin the Lunar year of the Snake for dinner. Reservation was easily made via their website.
Greeted by the staff upon entering as first-timers to this location, my partner and I got a booth right away in the main dining room, where the interior space was created to be dramatic, with a slightly dark and moody vibe, along with a bit of elegance. Its key colors are red, black, and gold, which are featured throughout, along with yellow lantern lighting and a huge hand-painted mural of a Samurai woman.
Their menu began with deep roots in Chinese cuisine, expanding across all of Asia, honoring cultures and recipes from Japan, Korea, Thailand, and beyond but limited.
For starters, we decided to share the Vegetable Spring Rolls. For our main meal, we opted for the Honey Chicken, Miso-Glazed Salmon and Signature Vegetable Lo Mein. Even saved room for dessert to share Chocolate Peanut Butter Cream Pie.
The food came out quickly, well seasoned and delicious. The portion was reasonable. The price was a bit pricey compared to other establishments. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience thanks to Tania, our server. From the moment we sat down, she was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, making sure every aspect of our meal was perfect. We can...
Read moreMy family love this place and their food so much that we dedicate MONDAYS as our day to visit and have dinner. I’ve been to this location several times so I know how the food should taste especially that dish. When the food arrived to our table of 2 we received ONE bowl of rice to share which NEVER HAPPENS. In addition there was brown mushy stuff in our rice. I notified the waiter and I complained about the rice portions, the brown stuff in the rice (WHICH HE SAID PROBABLY WAS BURNT RICE- even if it was burnt why are you serving burnt rice to guest?), worst of it my meal was absolutely disgusting! It literally did not satisfy my taste buds that I took one but and couldn’t even eat. I requested for the bill and a female manager came to our table. I told her about my experience. I was in literal tears because I was so hungry, but even more upset that my experience today was not like my others. She offered me another portion but I refused. The first portion was completely dissatisfying the first time so I wasn’t giving them the satisfaction of messing up the second time in addition; I didn’t want to wait for another portion to cook. At this point I’ve requested for the check twice in addition to a TO GO Box. We sat at the table for an additional 20 MINUTES after just speaking to a manager and the dining room wasn’t busy so I see no excuse as to why it took so long for us to never get our bill and WE NEVER GOT THE TO GO BOX. I’m completely heartbroken! I recommend this place to all my friends and co workers. I speak so highly of the food and the customer service and today I was let down even by management and I’m sad to say but after todays experience I...
Read moreMy experience this evening was horrendous. Our waitress Dominique was inattentive and rude. Our food arrived to the table over cooked and with missed modifications. I immediately sent my food back, while my boyfriend attempted to eat his. Upon further inspection, his “Waygu” steak was 80% fat, ultimately being inedible. Dominique then proceeded to gossip with a co-worker about our table and sent someone else to collect our dishes. With a smirk on his face, he asked how our night was going and I let him know the food was terrible. He chuckled and removed the plates from the table. I asked for the check, quite politely. Dominique brought it over and offered for us to speak with the manager. When he came over, we explained that my dish was not only wrong, but over cooked, and that my boyfriend’s steak was all fat. He walked over to the computer screen where Dominique was standing and then came back to our table. He said that Dominique stated we consumed the entirety of the Waygu steak. How could that be possible when she didn’t even come to collect the plate???…rather she sent the other server. We told the manager he was free to go check the plate to ensure what we said was factual. He ultimately removed the charge, but not before telling us that we should have said something to our waitress earlier. Maybe we could have told her earlier if she came to our table more than once….
Long story short, I would not recommend this location. Staff needs substantially more training in customer service and the kitchen staff needs to take more care when...
