The diner packed my meal to go today (March 5, 2023) even after I explicitly said I will be dining in at the counter. They did that because I was practicing some songs under my breath ; I'm an artist. What they did was clearly a violation of my First Amendment protected rights and I mentioned that to them explicitly. The waitress and the cashier may be the daughters of owner but I don't know for sure. It may be beneficial for the owner(s) and his family diner-operating members to service the Polska Kielbasas and/or the raw Ahi Tuna fillets of customers moving forward to strive to deliver superb/exceptional customer satisfaction/"bang for the buck" as these diner operators are most likely experts on handling sausage links and fish filets. With that said, the cashier is kind of cute and so I wonder if she is open to servicing a Jimmy Dean sausage with a pair of dark-hull walnuts at least three times a day (i.e. morning, noon, and night) if she is at least of the minimum age to provide legal consent to entering into an intimate partnership ; I bet her raw ahi filet is moist, succulent, and savory to taste despite, perhaps, some musty smell. (In a hypothetical scenario, I wouldn't necessarily say "no" if this cashier asked me out on a date.) I'm eating their meal now of a two-egg chili omelette with rye toast ; hopefully this meal is not poisoned by the diner operators/owners and/or was not exposed to unsanitary conditions such as spit, and is fit for consumption in accordance with the New Jersey Health & Safety laws governing the restaurant businesses. The atmosphere at diner is that of a bunch of extremely old people nearing expiration/extinction (not unlike that which transpired approximately 65 million years ago when a massive asteroid eradicated the dinosaurs) and so, unfortunately, not even one of these customers stood up to defend my U.S.-constitutionally protected/unalienable rights inside the diner (assuming these seniors are actually capable of standing up on their own without requiring third-party assistance). It may be possible that the diner operators/owners also racially discriminated against this minority and, therefore, are a bunch of prejudiced losers. This unsettling experience reminds me of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick On The Wall" song. [ Clover transaction March 05, 2023. 6:23 pm. I left a tip for my waitress just in case she is not related to the MoronsBaffons that own/operate this family "friendly" diner. Looking forward to an YouTube video. It may well be that my Internet postings about this diner will go viral globally because my message is well crafted/composed. Please...
Read moreI would give this diner one star based on my experience with the manager at the register. I would give zero stars for service based on my experience with him as well. However, the servers at the diner are always friendly and on the ball. So I have no complaints with any of them. They are all lovely women and work hard. The food is hit or miss, depending on what you order. However, I have received BID BUCKS as a gift twice now in the past year. Twice I have tried to use them at this diner as they are listed as a participating BID business.. The first time a young man at the register wasn’t sure how to use them, so he had to call a few people. He finally entered it into the register and we left happy customers…This Saturday night we could’ve chosen any restaurant on the list that took these cards. We chose the diner as it’s a little something we do on Saturday night once in a while. The manager refused to take the cards. I explained to him that the diner is on the list of participating facilities. He cursed out the BID, first stating that he has to pay $1200 a year to them, and then stated he has to pay $1500 a year to them… And then proceeded to tell me that they “don’t do $hit for him”. I found this to be unprofessional. You are arguing with a customer, using foul language, and refusing to take some thing that clearly you participate in. He said he had called them and told them to take his name off the list. However, the diner is printed on the new list, which we just received. I understand he may not want to participate and his “beef” is with the BID, not me. He also stated I’m not the first to come in there with these cards. So, apparently, he has turned other people away as well rather than resolve this with the BID themselves. He said he was going to call them on Monday to basically give them a piece of his mind. Obviously, these BID bucks can be turned in for “real money”…. What he could have done was accept the cards, and when he spoke with the BID on Monday, ask them how he turns the “bucks” into real money for his restaurant… But rather than do that, he stood there and made me get out my debit card, pay for my meal, and leave with my BID BUCKS, (and this was after swearing, and getting angry with me, as though it were my fault that he and Hackettstown BID don’t see eye to eye)… For this reason, unfortunately, we won’t be going back after many many years of patronage to Riverstar Diner....
Read moreMe and my wife just moved to the area. Granted I used to live in an area where there was a diner withing a 5 min driving distance almost every way, we still take the time to stop at new spots to see what stands out. We always see this place busy so we figured it had to be good. Boy, were we wrong. I gave this place 2 stars because they were friendly and efficient with their service. Those are probably the only positives. We went on a Saturday evening. It looked busy but plenty of open seats. We ordered from a pretty extensive menu. My wife got something that cost almost $10 and it was basically some slices of tomatoe on a roll with cheese that was trying to be melted, but wasn't at all and an unusual sauce. Bland and disgusting. She barely ate half. I ordered a Nacho platter to begin. The chips were stale and the chili tasted like it originated from a can with some added beans and chopped meat to give it some consistency. The portion size was good, and I was really hungry so I gave it no complaint. For my meal I had the Reuben. It's a typical dish I order to taste the freshness if the corned beef. Well let me just tell you that the cheese was overly pungent, the sauerkraut was plain, and the corned beef was rubbery and lacked any flavor whatsoever. The best part about the dish was the bread. The fries were plain (unsalted) and they served with thousand island dressing in a cup on the side. We spent a bit over $30 but it was not nearly worth $15. Again, the waitress was great and the service was friendly, but in terms of food, I would have honestly preferred nuggets...
