VEGETARIANS BE ADVISED: Their pizza is good, dont usually order the turnovers, I live close very close and the turnovers arrived on the lukewarm side and they are mostly just dough w very little ingredients, so ask for extra sauce on side if you like yer turnover to not be on drier side..Truly its mostly bread but The dough is tasty lol..That wasn't my main issue after eating the dough corner and finally getting into the bit of cheese and sauce i noticed some spongy chunks that looked weird.. I had to call to confirm that i saw meat in my turnover, they said it was my fault for not specifiying any food allergies as their sauces are meat... I'm sorry but since when do most pizza places use meat sauce for plain items... meat is usually extra... so the fact they told me its very common is disturbing to me. Its what i get for assuming plain pizza turnover doesnt have beef though....I digress if you are vegetarian then you most likely consumed some very small beef bits if you ate their sauces and especially if you made the mistake of assuming plain equals no meat. They said they never gotten a complaint about their sauces before and I was the very first. Well, maybe because If you werent paying attention you couldnt really tell you were consuming meat as the bits were very tiny, im glad i caught it before really eating the turnover.I really feel they should specify sauces arent vegetarian friendly, or allergn friendly if they are other than plain sauces...but I get its at their discretion but most people are probably in the same.boat as me thinkingg its meatless and consuming it unwittingly. Please dont make my mistake.
Update: they gave refund and free pizza which was appreciated. Again their pizza is good but i didnt appreciate eating meat after 26 yrs and basically being told We are sorry for "your" mistake and kinda like an "oh well" vibes. Still leaves me a bit sour...but at least they tried to be somewhat sympathetic...
Their Pizza sauce has no meat(allegedly).. marinara has meat. Just as an fyi... for any veggies or allergic peeps
Otherwise stick to their pizza cause its a safer tastier option.
I'm on the fence about giving a 3 star ratinglol... i feel badbecause the pizza is good but the rest of the experience was a little meh. And the owners comments on some of these reviews leaves me feelin like im about to be attacked for being a tiddle disappointed and an honest experience w service not just this time but a few other times( slow delivery, one time it took 3 hours to get my delivery, the woman apologized because she didnt know where she was going as she wasnt actually the delivery driver and they were apparently short staffed and had other priorities to attend to, i still tipped her well but an apology for a 3 hr late delivery is kinda a joke, i had to call to see where they were 3 times. She just kept saying shes trying to get to get to me but i took it instride.... the garlic knots are huge but mostly undercooked esp in the middle its just straight uncooked dough, could have been a one off tho as i never ordered it again)... just little isolated incidences that I let slide cause the ppl are so nice there and their location is super convienent. I hate to be a bother so i normally wouldnt complain.... this review is strictly a PSA for non beefeaters...and a suggestion to papas to maybe be a little more transparent with ingredients, so average consumer knows what they are getting themselves into. Especially if they say they are proud of their fresh ingredients and homemade sauce.... they could easily say " our turnover is made w our famous meat sauce..cause its not common I'll be more.cautious and inquisitive for future pizza places as well. 🤷 Everyone ive spoken to has been appalled for me because they never heard of pizza sauce being...
Read moreI took a chance ordering from here while staying at a hotel up the street and let me just say WOW! I ordered a small Stromboli which has sausage, pepperoni and mozz cheese with a 4oz side of sauce. The menu I had said 11.99 but I guess they charge a delivery fee because it came to $16 plus another few bucks for a tip. Delivery was fast and the driver was courteous and friendly. I asked for a few paper plates which were provided along with napkins. I’ll admit when I first opened the box I was a bit underwhelmed with the size, even though I ordered a small it was pretty small for a $20 Stromboli. My initial disappointment was immediately gone once I took a piece (I liked that they sliced it into 4 slices) and dipped it into their sauce and took a bite. It was packed with pepperoni, delicious Italian sausage (not that pork crumble ball crap but real sliced Italian sausage) and delicious grande mozzarella cheese! Their red sauce was probably one of the best I’ve tasted in a very long time. It was cooked perfectly to a shiny golden brown (they must egg wash it). I couldn’t stop eating it and didn’t leave a crumb behind. If the rest of their food is even half as good you’ll be happy you ordered from here. It was worth every penny even with tip and delivery fee but in the future I’ll save the extra $6-7 and pick it up. I wish I had stopped for half a second to take a picture for everyone but I’ll add one next time I get one which I’m sure will be soon.
Edit 1/26/24 - So, it’s only been a couple days and I couldn’t resist trying their pizza!
I ordered a thick crust Sicilian with 1/2-sausage for pickup. Let me just say it did not disappoint in the least bit, 16 thick slices of absolute heaven! It was cooked perfectly, the sauce was just as tasty as it was with the Stromboli, the thick slices of fennel laced Italian sausage are delicious (could’ve used a few more slices but the quality makes up for it and I’m just a huge fan of sausage so I can always use more!) and the grande mozz cheese is creamy, stretchy and delicious, and this thick crust is light-airy and not greasy. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a Sicilian pizza this good. I’ll be moving next week but you can bet that anytime I’m in the area that this will be my go to pizzeria. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better pizza or Stromboli in the area (I know I’ve tried quite a few and...
Read more5/28/2020: Normally, I would have let this go and not written a negative review; However, after receiving two frantic calls back to back from an overly-emotional employee at Papa Mario's I felt the need to communicate a pattern of unprofessional behavior to the free marketplace.
The reviewed situation began after I requested a refund for the monstrosity of a drink that I received inside of a taped up wawa cup (Picture attached). My meal was placed through grubhub at 7:29 PM, the delivery window said 8:10-8:20 PM and was over an hour late when it was delivered at 9:28 PM. The drink was not labeled correctly on the restaurant's grubhub account as something that was handmade, or bottled in a wawa cup with painter's tape, because if it was I would have not ordered it. I requested a refund for only the drink, and it was approved by grubhub. Approximately 10 minutes after that, I received two calls on my cell phone from the same number back to back from the restaurant by a female employee who had a male employee close by with both of them speaking into the phone. I was told by both of them that they handmade the drinks and poured it into the wawa cup, that they lost money as a small business just because I didn't like the cup, and that I was now placed on a "black list". I tried to speak numerous times and was not allowed a single opportunity to talk until I was told not to order from them anymore, to which i said "no problem" and then I was hung up on.
Customers beware.
Update#1: As 10:17PM, 5/28/2020 (4 minutes after posting my initial review), I received another phone call from Papa Mario's store number which I answered and it immediately hung up. I am not sure if this is developing into harassment, but I felt the need to update this review for any prospective future customers, along with a screenshot of my call log to substantiate this claim. This is...
