Del Buono’s Bakery and Carmen’s Deli — Restaurant in Haddon Heights

I’ve heard nothing but “great” things about Del Buenos. So? Me and my wife decided to try this out?

The first thing I said to everyone waiting on us when we walked in was “We’ve never been here before” we may need your help ordering and finding what we’re looking for?

Absolute worse experience I’ve ever had! Absolute worse meal I’ve ever ordered! The Cannoli’s we ordered were horrible. Didn’t get what we asked for didn’t get what we ordered!!!!

We ordered “Roast-beef Hoagies”.... My wife got her “Roas-beef Hoagie”. I got something called a “Rose Special Hoagie”. It was terrible! It wasn’t what I ordered and it honestly smelled bad? As if it was rotten or spoiled? I threw it away after a few bites.

We asked for help with the Cannolis and Cannoli Dip. We did get the correct Cannoli shells but the Cannoli Dip was “obviously” Miss marked! It wasn’t Cannoli Dip!

So? Don’t waste you time or money by going here! We didn’t get what we ordered and what we did receive was spoiled or mismarked and incorrect!

It was a waste of time and money!

I was in the area and couldn't miss the animal statues display outside of Del Buono's. I had seen it in previous trips but this time I stopped. I'm happy that I decided to investigate. I walked by the cool statues outside into the smells and sight of freshly baked bread. I wasn't ready, I expected isles and a counter not carts full of all types of breads and rolls. I assumed I'd entered through the wrong entrance. Nope, I didn't. You can grab gloves and bag up items of fresh baked goods and take them to the checkout. They have the retail section further in to the right. WOW! Sticky Buns, Jalapeño Cornbread, doughnuts and more! They also have a deli counter and two pickle barrels from which you get the pickles yourself. I ordered the standard size cheesesteak. The lady spread her hand 1 1/2 feet apart. I assumed she meant 12 inches. Wrong again. I got a huge 18 inch steak sandwich with provolone and fried onions. It's full of meat, cheese and fried oniony goodness. Last week I posted a cheesesteak I purchased in North Brunswick NJ for the same price. All I can say is "SHAME, SHAME,SHAME" Del Buono's Bakery puts them to shame. Love their bakery but the deli is the worst anymore. I’ve had issues the last several times I’ve used their deli but I kept letting it go. The other day I changed my mind when I ordered 3 lbs of lunch meat sliced thin. I placed the order at 4:29. I was the only one in there when I placed my order and my order was the only one the deli person was helping. It still took 25 minutes to cut 3 lbs of lunch meat. She had to clarify like 7 times what I was ordering (just bologna and cheese, sliced thin) I got it home and everything was sliced super thick. I figured we would just deal with it, but I just now realized she also gave me the wrong cheese a day later. I worked in different delis for 8 years, I know what it entails, but anymore I’m just better off going elsewhere. Don’t get me started on online orders from the deli- your order will be wrong, 100% of the time. Whether it’s lunch meat or a sandwhich order… so I’m leaving this review in hopes you’ll have a chat with your deli staff….maybe it’s just new people or something, but it’d be helpful to maybe review some training...
