I’ve visited the Taproom on various occasions over the years & the food was always inconsistent in terms of the quality & I was really hoping that Santucci’s taking over would change this.
My recent visit for dinner was with my 2 teenagers. Our server, Skylar, was very nice & this review in no way reflects the service we received from her.
Off the bat, the table needed to be wiped down better. There was a gnat in my son's water, kind of gross but not a huge deal. We ordered fried calamari & 6 smoked BBQ wings as an app. For dinner, my daughter ordered chicken fingers & fries. My son ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich with spinach & provolone. I ordered a personal pizza with the works.
Nothing was delivered to the table in any proper order or at the same time. First, the calamari came out with the chicken fingers & fries. Per the menu, the calamari was supposed to have banana peppers & it did not. The marinara it came with for dipping tasted like it came from a jar of Ragu. The chicken fingers are not your typical bar chicken fingers, they’re clearly in house breaded & fried (as stated on the menu) which is fine but they were very dry. I am not the type to send food back but they were so dry, my daughter didn’t eat them so our server was nice enough to take them off the bill. Bottle of ketchup on our table was empty so I grabbed the one from the unoccupied table behind us which also happened to be empty. The wings were possibly the saddest thing I’ve ever seen. They were pretty small & there was very little BBQ sauce that looked like it was squirted on them. They were not even fully coated in the BBQ sauce. My son’s sandwich came with a small bag of chips laid on top of the pickle since it was on this tiny stainless tray & there was no room for the bag. He said his sandwich was just okay & he felt like it was missing something. My pizza was visually appealing but the dough & sauce was flavorless. Even doctoring it up with the table oregano & garlic powder wasn’t enough to make me ever want to order this pizza again.
This will be my last time giving the food at the...
Read moreWe decided to try a new place for lunch and went to the Taproom & Grill in Haddonfield. Parking lot was empty, no lines, seems like we picked a good time for Labor Day. We started with 2 orders of wings... sorry, only had 1 order left, so we got 1 order of wings. They were grilled dry and covered with peach bourbon salsa. Salsa was flavorful. Took a long time, our waitress said the kitchen was slammed all weekend. Then we ordered our food. Asked for a brisket sandwich, sorry sold out, switched to pork sandwich with old bay fries. Then asked for a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a turkey burger with fries. After a long wait the food came out. All 4 plates came with sweet potato fries because they were all of of regular fries. Sorry to say but none of us like sweet potato fries, so we didnt touch them. As for the bacon cheese burger, 1 small piece of bacon on the burger got a chuckle from each of us. The pork sandwiches were dry and over cooked. The turkey burger was ok, but they must have been out of onions, so it was just lettuce and tomato. We ate and asked for the bill, very disappointed in the food. The waitress brought our bill, asked if we wanted a box for the huge wasted piles of sweet potato fries on each plate. We said, no, we didnt want the fries to begin with. Now for the best part, the bill comes and there's an up charge for 3 orders of Old Bay Fries and 1 up charge for sweet potato fries all totally $6.50 in up charges. As for the poorly made bacon cheese burger, it was billed as build your own, extra charge for the 1 slice of bacon and 1 slice of cheese. When I asked the waitress about the up charges on the fries, she said she didn't charge us for sodas instead. Best part was we had 1 cocktail, 1 soda and 2 waters. I guess the sodas were $6.50 each. I paid the bill, tipped the waitress 20% and will never return. Bad food, bad service,...
Read moreI haven't been here in over 5 years.I came to see a friend play acoustic last Friday but he left early cause of the storm understandable..So I still stayed with some friends.I had 2 beers and i ordered off the late night menu.I got a cheese stk and fries. When it came out there was a bunch of large black residue from the dirty Grill all in it. I had to send it back and ask for a new one.The waitress was polite and great but the kitchen staff need to clean the grill more efficiently. Fathers day we figured we would go there again and sit outside have dinner and a few drinks and relax.Well they were out of about 6 items to start off No crab cakes all the tacos items and a few other things. So we ordered the cheeseburger with sauteed onions mushrooms and cheese with fries and then the Cheesesteak again with fries. We received our food about 10 minutes later and this time the cheesecake had burnt black onions throughout the Cheesesteak and a roll they must have bought from a ShopRite or an acme that was horrible the cheeseburger was so burnt and black on the bottom and no onions maybe four mushrooms and a little bit of cheese we had to send it all back again. The waitress was polite and very sweet and each had two beers and waited an additional 20 minutes to get another burger and I switched to a Caesar wrap. The burger looked amazing and the ceasar wrapped look good minus too much Caesar dressing. So with 2 bad experiences within a two-week period I will never go back to this place again. I've been a cook in restaurants and managed bars for 30 years.Somebody is not doing their job managing or the kitchen staff is inexperienced and don't care about cleaning the grill in the kitchen the...
