I’ve been dining at Gohyang Korean Restaurant in Hadley for over a decade, and it continues to be a standout in the Pioneer Valley. Even as the restaurant has evolved over the years, the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere have only improved, making it one of my all-time favorite spots.
The recent updates they’ve made are fantastic. A few years ago, they transitioned from BYOB to having a liquor license, and now they offer a unique selection of Korean alcoholic drinks that you won’t find anywhere else locally. My personal favorite is their Makgeolli—a slightly sweet, lightly sparkling rice wine that pairs perfectly with their dishes.
Another update is the addition of menu photos, which I love. Even though I’m fairly familiar with Korean cuisine, having pictures makes it easier to explore new dishes with confidence. And if you’re not sure what to order or want to try something adventurous, the staff is always happy to give recommendations—they know the menu inside and out.
The Food: • Kimchi & Banchan: Their homemade kimchi is hands-down the best in the valley, and the banchan (small appetizer salads) that come with every meal are always fresh and flavorful. • Gohyang Fried Chicken (GFC): The GFC with Yangnyeom sauce is a must-try! It’s the perfect combination of crispy, juicy, sweet, spicy, and tangy. On my last visit, they added a thoughtful touch by providing disposable gloves for eating the chicken—no messy hands, just pure enjoyment. • JapChae: This dish of clear noodles is always a hit, especially for picky eaters. It’s a family-friendly option that doesn’t skimp on flavor. • Tteok Bokki: Their Tteok Bokki, loaded with cheese, Gimmairi (fried seaweed rolls), ramen noodles, and even a deep-fried egg if you like, is ultimate comfort food—especially during the colder months. • Bibimbap: You can’t go wrong with any of their Bibimbap options. I recommend dining in to enjoy it served in a hot stone bowl, where the rice crisps up at the bottom for an extra layer of texture and flavor.
The Atmosphere: What truly sets Gohyang apart, aside from the incredible food, is the warmth and pride of the staff. On my last visit, I overheard a seasoned employee patiently training a new server. Their kindness, positivity, and genuine enthusiasm for their work left me feeling not just satisfied with my meal, but happy to support a restaurant that takes such pride in their craft and customer experience.

Read moreLove, love LOVE this place. I went here with my mother last night and we had possibly the best dining experience we've had in a while. The food here was delicious, and if you go here you should get what we did: the jajangmyeon (a noodle dish with tangy black bean paste), the vegetable curry, and what we hope will become a permanent fixture on the menu here, the Injeolmi ice cream. It tasted almost like a condensed marshmallow? We loved it. Anyways, if you take anything away from this review, let it be these three points: The food is incredible here, and a perfect introduction to Korean cuisine if you've never tried it before. The staff is very friendly, they're willing to explain everything on the menu and the servers always brought out our food very quickly. Almost no wait at all. The atmosphere is very charming. If you're looking for a place to go for date night, family dinner, or any occasion, really, look no further. Gohyang is a 10/10 place, we'll...

The food? Absolutely exceptional. Every dish is bursting with flavor and prepared with care. The variety of banchan (side dishes) was impressive, each offering a delightful mix of textures and flavors that complemented the main courses beautifully.
