Sumo Teppanyaki Express — Restaurant in Haines City

I ordered uber eats from this location & received old hard & over cooked food(rice very hard meats over cooked, taste not there). & I’ve actually ordered from this place about 2 times before with no issues, so I thought I’d give them a courtesy call to see if I can just drive over and get it replaced no problem (ALTHOUGH i paid extra fees to get it delivered faster to be more fresh). I asked really nice and sweet also (i promise i always meet people with grace & respect). However, I was met in return with immediate deference & aggression from the chef/manager & that was super alarming enough for me to leave a review. Not only that the food is completely inedible.

I’m very careful about leaving bad Google reviews because I respect peoples business. Unless it’s really good, it takes a lot of of me to leave a review. But the way the manager mistreated me at this location was disgusting & I thought I’d warn anyone who would ever want to order from this place.

I ordered today at 12pm (just incase hire ups needs to look into who handled me this way, he also would not give me his name). He proceeds to yell at me that he knows the food was fresh & that my food being bad has nothing to do with them because i didn’t order there physically, i ordered online. Which was absolutely crazy to me because you are the company who hired this 3rd party to deliver the food you cook & represent. Therefore you are just as responsible.

The fact that I was going to offer to drive over and exchange the food after already paying for delivery fees and extra fees to get it faster and fresher, and I still wasn’t helped by this restaurant just blows my mind away, im highly disappointed. & I will be taking this further. Well I can't even begin to imagine how this place stays in business. Please think twice about even driving to it before deciding if this is where you and who ever you unfortunately drag with you decide to walk in. I ordered the 3 roll special of spicy tuna rolls for $13 and a $10 Bento Teriyaki Chicken box for lunch for my son and I. The sushi came and as soon as I put the tuna into my mouth alarms went off in my head about how warm the tuna was. It was like the rolls were premade and left out for hours. Got my money refunded for that after the owner said "That's how it's supposed to be" Ended up throwing the Bento box away because I just could not trust the integrity of the establishment at that point. And the absolute worst of it was, after the owner took the sushi away I watched him pick through the box of tuna rolls I had sent back and was rearranging the pieces. I never saw it go into the trash expect for pieces that I had smoosed with my fingers earlier with the cashier. First time trying this place that was recommended for having delicious sushi in Haines City. I decided for the steak teriyaki Bento box 🍱 since it has a little bit of everything. First it came with a house salad 🥗 which is just shredded lettuce and 2 slices of cucumbers but the dressing is amazing. I asked for my steak medium and it was perfectly cooked. It came with onions and the teriyaki sauce was delicious. I paid $1 extra for the fried rice and was worth it but wished it came with vegetables. It also came with 4 rolls of California sushi it was definitely good. Lastly the gyoza, I never had one before and I love the egg roll concept in a small fried dumpling. I also paid .50 cent extra for the yum yum sauce but was not disappointed. The yum yum sauce is delicious. I would recommend this place to consider sweet tea as a drink option but other that that I’m looking forward to trying all the items...
