Let me start by saying that I have eaten here few times before with no complaints but sadly tonight was not a Diamond night for old Jimmy(new name Stoneridge Inn). Tonight’s experience was so bad I started to laugh at a table and I’m giggling as I’m typing this review because the whole experience was so bad. It all began tonight on a nice Friday evening, we were seated and offered glasses of water. About 10 or so minutes our waiter showed up to ask us what we want to drink. Another 10 minutes passed and we were asked what food we wanted. Then the fun began…we finished our drinks and asked for a refill. In the meantime our waiter kept walking by us multiple times serving other guests. Or try to serve them. It turns out they were all waiting way too long for their drinks also. After close to 25minutes of waiting he turned to us and asked us if we wanted a refill. I think what gave it away was us sucking on our ice cubes. He then asked each of us separately just to make sure. we nodded. 10 minutes later our drinks arrive. Food is still missing. How long does it take to make fish fry?
Our room clears out with waiter nowhere in sight. New guests start coming in, they are waiting for their drinks just as long as we have been and they’re getting agitated.
Our food finally arrives 50 minutes after we sat down, with missing tartar sauce. We were hungry and didn’t want to wait any longer so we didn’t say anything. One plate came with cold and dry fish. This fish was not for anyone with dentures. We didn’t want to wait another hour to get that fixed also. In the meantime a guest started to yell at our waiter because they were not getting served, another one was getting wrong items. 20minutes passes our waiter stopped by and offered a desert, listed all the deserts they had minus their most popular one (banana cream pie), for which he gave the reason: “we had a tough week, a person dropped a pie”. Seriously???!!! Someone was carrying A PIE, dropped it and that’s why they didn’t have it? I ordered chocolate cheesecake instead and asked for a bill. I see him pull a printed bill off the machine in anger as another server looks a little bit worried. Our waiter came back and said they ran out of chocolate cheesecake but if I wanted he could get me a regular cheesecake and sprinkle chocolate on top with his hand and it’d be just as good. Hmmm that was a hard no!!! Just a bill please. He proceeded to take the cheesecake off our bill and returned with a bill that had cheesecake still on it. We pointed that mistake and he said he took it off and doesn’t know what happened, he called it a glitch in the system. He also double charged us for an ice tea refill, we pointed that out too. He said ice tea refills are not free. We left the restaurant and called them back and they told us the first ice tea refill is free. So he lied or didn’t know, either way we shouldn’t have been charged. I doubt we will be going back there again.
Update 7/16/21: We gave Diamond Jim’s another chance….we called and were told it’s a 20min wait. When we showed up they told us an hour or maybe 45mins. We waited 1hour 15minutes to get seated. Our waiter came over(the same guy as last time) and said he’d be right back. 10minutes later he walked up to the table next to us to tell them their food is coming out momentarily. Because we saw this last time we knew they were waiting for a while. The waiter didn’t even give us eye contact. 10min without drinks is unacceptable after waiting for more than an hour. We got up and left, neither hostess nor waiter was around as we were walking out. This place has terrible service. Plan to stay 3hrs if...
Read moreWe typically like this place from times in the past but they have instituted and we were a party to some very sketchy situations last night.
First, a bartender served a person an Asti instead for a Reisling. We knew it wasn't right bc wine doesn't have bubbles. She said she served the right drink but upon pulling the bottle out and still insisting it was right.. I looked at it and pointed out her error. She finally agreed it was wrong. Then when I went to pay for my 2 drinks she tried to charge me for the error, which the Asti was previously paid for by our friends. Thank goodness I saw our friends change on the counter as proof of their previous payment and then she agreed with me. Also she said my credit card wasn't working but thankfully the other bartender handled the situation bc my credit card was fine. Still speaking of the bar, after dinner, a woman in our group was standing there trying to get someone to take her credit card to pay for a drink and after an absorbent amount of time being ignored, she handed cash plus a tip to an employee, asking him to cash her out as she had to get going. As another person in our party was trying to do the same, the bartender told that person he was responsible for paying the other person's bill who just paid with cash and left. He was severely hassled for something that wasn't his responsibility and was treated extremely poorly even by the Manager.
We had a big group, but their new policy is if they have to split the check by more then in half at a table, then everyone gets a $2.50 check split charge. Their excuse is that they have to by the interest charge for everyone to use their charge cards. But not everyone used a charge card and this reasoning makes no sense bc then EVERYONE in the restaurant should have that charge on their bill. There were 7 couples and 4 singles in our group. Everyone got a $2.50 charge totaling $27.50 extra in this restaurants pocket. I won't go into why this is absolutely ridiculous bc this is easily accommodated!!
And plan on a 20% service charge added for a tip regardless of the quality of service.
So sad...bc we used to...
Read moreMost humiliating episode in my 52 years of life. I order a medium well NY strip, comes about 45 minutes later, char burnt on the outside and well done on the inside. I tell my waitress and she says would you like me to get you another or I can take it off your bill, I say, I came to eat a steak and I will pay for my steak, thank you. Another employee comes back out with my steak plate and says, the owner said this is medium well, the heck it isn't, but as is I am a well educated, courteous person, I say, can you please make me another steak with slight pink in the middle like a medium well should be. Mind you i was there a month ago and my medium well had slight pink in the middle. Now another employee comes out again with my original steak plate and says we can take it off your bill. I say ok fine. Now I would like to order another steak please, she says the owner said if so I'd have to pay for both steaks. What??? At this point everyone is looking at the spectacle that my family and I have become, I say please bring me the check. My original waitress comes out and starts to clear the table and spills an entire Italian dressing cup in my purse. 🙄 my beautiful red juicy couture purse is now drenched inside and out, stained and smelly, ruined. She apologizes, hands me the bill and says I'll be right out. I need your name and number and we'll talk to the owners wife, she was in a serious car accident that's why shes not here right now so we can get you a Visa card, but the manager will be right out. Now I'm bewildered!!! I hand her my payment and she comes back and there I stand waiting for a manager. I finally see the 3rd employee that came to my table earlier (the manager) and I ask so what will be done about my purse, she looks at me and has not a clue of what I am talking about. She was not told. At this point, now I'm in tears. She says I'm so sorry, give me your number please i will get back to you i promise, please dont cry. She walks out with me, i get in my car, spent $80 on dinner, came home hungry, humiliated and i am now out of my purse. WORSE...
