This place is phenomenal!! I got the shamrock shake and their famous chicken and waffles. I think the whole thing cost me $20, and it was well worth it. The shake was huge. I could have made a meal of that on its own. I liked the chocolate on the sides, the maraschino cherries were yummy, and it was minty without tasting like toothpaste. The chicken and waffles were the highlight of the meal, though. The syrup is legit maple syrup that is bordering on maple sugar - it's clear it's great quality and it isn't the cheap syrup most stores buy. I think it may even have been local. Basically, anything I didn't use, I kept because it was soooo good!! The chicken literally melted in my mouth. The batter outside was crispy and flavorful, and it stayed on the chicken. The chicken itself was juicy and I was seriously in heaven!! For those who are interested, I think the chicken is chicken breast. The waffles were nice and thin. They were slightly crispy and very good with the syrup. The best part is they complimented the fried chicken perfectly. Usually, when I get chicken and waffles, I tend to eat them separately but this meal really was better together.
I'm extremely excited we found such a good breakfast place and we will...
Read moreFuncle’s Café is a great location with friendly staff and delicious food. We came in at lunch time and were greeted by helpful staff. They quickly took our order and served our food. The portions were very large, especially for the lower prices, and the food was delicious. The BLT had fresh and crunchy tomatoes and lettuce, and had a great ratio of ingredients. It also featured tons of bacon. The muffin was warm with melty chocolate chips and was covered in powdered sugar. The best was easily the Breakfast Burrito (which I didn’t get a picture of because we ate it so quickly, but was incredible). Easily the best breakfast burrito we’ve ever had. It was warm, tasty, and packed with a perfect combination of ingredients. Everything was excellently prepared, and the pico de gallo, garlic aïoli, and home fries added a perfect touch to the breakfast burrito. As we left we had to give our compliments to the chef. Needless to say, as we told them, we will certainly be back for more the next time we’re the in the area. Check out Funcle’s Café the next time you’re nearby! You won’t be...
Read moreFuncles may be my favorite breakfast Cafe in CT. As someone with a gluten allergy it's almost impossible to get a quick delicious breakfast. Not only do they get the best GF brioche (no seriously I almost sent it back because I didn't believe it was GF) they have amazing, fresh food.
Everything at Funcles is obviously made with care. It tastes fresh and it seems each item is well thought out. I can't live without the aioli, specifically the chipotle aioli. I haven't had a single thing on the menu I've disliked. I even tried the frozen coffee (basically a coffee milkshake) and holy cow it's perfect. I can have mine slightly bitter or you can get it super sweet.
Not to mention the owners and staff are so kind. They remember me and my order. They even once put a note in my Uber order to let me know about the low stock of GF rolls. This is the kind of place you want to be a regular.
Trust me here internet stranger, it's more than worth a try. On a road trip, on a Sunday, you woke up late and want a good meal,...
