Fresh ingredients but overall just not for me. I like my plain pizza w/cheese and not just sprinkled on the sauce making it be more sauce than cheese. It's not sold as a tomato pie. The claim made by the staff of "we have the best sausage there is" eeehhh.. not sure. Yes, it was good but it's also expected to be in the good range at a pizza restaurant. Now, "the best there is"?...I don't know about it.🤔 The crust is tooo wide, I felt cheated. The dough.. maybe add salt or something? Flavorless unfortunately.👎🏼 Customized a half plain and half sausage, Olives and mushrooms. Asked the server if the price for the extra topins was half since it was just for half of the pie and the answer was "no but you'll get the full amount of what you are paying for in the half." That was not true👎🏼👎🏼.. I hope! Because if you spread the tipins that were in the half and try to used them for a whole pie, it'll look like you have almost nothing on it.. I don't think I'll go back but it was good to try. The service was friendly. The atmosphere was as expected for a restaurant, good.

Disappointed with DeLorenzo’s Pizza – A $22 Lesson Learned I recently visited DeLorenzo’s Pizza on Sloan Ave after a recommendation from a friend, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. After waiting 30 minutes for my order, I arrived home to find a completely burnt pizza that was not even cut properly. Despite giving it a chance, my family found the pizza nearly inedible due to the overwhelming burnt taste in every bite. In the end, we had no choice but to throw it away and cook something else instead. For $22, I expected much better quality, especially from an establishment with such a strong reputation. This experience has left me frustrated, and I will not be returning. A simple attention to detail—ensuring the pizza is properly cooked and cut—could have made all the difference. Unfortunately, DeLorenzo’s fell short, and I cannot recommend it based on this visit.

There are two DeLorenzo’s restaurants in the Trenton, NJ area, owned and operated independently by cousins in the family of the same name. Both had their origins in cramped little places in downtown Trenton that served great pizza and are now in the Trenton suburbs serving the same great food in more user friendly surroundings. The other is on Route 33 in Robbinsville but we’ll save that for another day and focus here on Sloan Avenue. The easiest way to summarize things about the Sloan Avenue location is to say that nothing on the menu is less than excellent. The salads, especially the heirloom tomato version, are terrific for starters and the pizza with any toppings (I like plain sauce and cheese) is wonderful. And the prices of everything are very fair. You really can’t go wrong here!

Pizza was amazing, but the service was terrible. I ordered online through their website, or at least that’s how Google made it seem. When I arrived to pick up my order, the employee at the counter asked me if I put in a Door Dash order after I gave him my name. When I said no I ordered it online he said we don’t do online orders only doordash, and then asked me if I put the order in myself. When I said yes he double checked and said that my order was in and paid for, but asked me if I paid anyway.

When I said I didn’t recall putting in any credit card info, he had me pay again just in case. I was fine with this since I never got a Google Pay alert. However, when I got home I saw I had received a receipt directly from DeLorenzo’s website. So, I decided to go back to try to explain the situation since I had paid twice for the pizza and had honestly made a mistake in assuming I hadn’t paid just because I didn’t receive the usual Google Pay notification.

When I got back to the restaurant to try and explain, the same person said “I don’t know what to tell you, we only do Door Dash.” I showed him my receipt and showed him where it said DeLorenzo’s. He still said that it wasn’t possible for me to have ordered through them online. As all this is happening there’s a line building up and people are getting agitated, and some of the younger employees attempted to intervene but were shooed off. Eventually he tells me to check to see if I can cancel the order THAT I ALREADY PICKED UP. At the point I just walked out.

I’ve been a patron of DeLorenzo’s for years, but after tonight I will never go back. I was charged nearly $80 just for two pies because someone couldn’t understand that one screen is for ALL ONLINE ORDERS and the other is for the in-house/call in/take out orders.

8/14/22 Update: it recently occurred to me that the person working the take out register wasn’t aware Door Dash let’s people put in orders for pick up, which would explain why all the younger staff looked so desperate to help him. If you’re gonna have someone do something, make sure they know what they’re doing first. The fact that this man would rather double charge than be proven wrong by people younger than him drops this from two...

We typically take a 1 hour drive out to De Lorenzo's Tomato located at 2350 Highway 33, Robbinsville, NJ and it never disappoints. After arriving we discovered there was an hour wait. Feeling extremely hungry we called DeLorenzo's Pizza 147 Sloan Ave, Trenton, NJ 08619. They are two separate establishments that split after a family feud. The owner’s son said there was no wait so we canceled our reservation at the Robbinsville locations and take a 10 minute drive to the Trenton location.

Upon arriving we find there as a 35 – 40 minute wait as the young maître d’ advised. I explained I just called 10 minutes ago there was no wait. She said the owner’s son is telling everyone there is no wait and apologized profusely. She ask the owner’s son why are you telling everyone who calls that there is no wait. He responded out loud “I am sorry you are having a hard time doing your job”. Completely rude to her and to me standing there. After about 25 minutes she seats us and apologizes profusely again.

We ordered salads and two pies. The salads arrive less one as the waiter forgot. No big deal we shared. However, as we are eating the salad the pie arrives with absolutely no time to given to finish the salad. This drives me nuts as I dislike being rushed. I looked around and realize there was no longer a wait and a few free tables so no excuse for the rush.

The pizza was absolutely horrendous with no taste whatsoever. I cannot believe they are still in business with this garbage they sell. Epically with their family member only 10 minutes away which puts this place to absolute shame!

After we finished eating I walked up the owner and described my conversation with his son and complimented what a great maître d’ he has. His response was maybe when you called there was no wait. I asked him how the place can fill up with a 35 – 40 minute wait when I called 10 minutes prior and I am not the only customer who was told this over the phone. He shrugged his shoulders, never apologized and could care less.

In summary, don’t go to this dump as I never will return again. Horrible service and...

I am new to the area and tried this place for the first time in January. I placed an order over he phone and had a difficult time with the male employee taking my order. He told me that maybe I was having trouble with my phone but he could not hear me. After finally getting my order through, I picked it up without a probelm. I thought the pizza was great and I have returned since. However, everytime I call I get the same guy. He is constantly telling me that I must have a phone issue. I have called him from several phones and It has gotten to the point that I want to hang up when he answers. Today, I waited to get home from work and call as opposed to calling from my car. I wanted to avoid any issues with being told that my call cold not be heard. Well, as usual I got the same guy. He proceeds to tell me that I must have a phone issue because he can't hear me. When I picked up my order, I then talk to that individual, who identifies himself as the boss. When asked if he was the owner, he states, "well my father is." Clearly frustrated, I tell him about my concern and I think they are having a phone issue. I then ask him his name and he states that he is Mike. I proceed to explain to him that I have gotten a female on the phone in the past and I never had a problem placing an order with her. He seemed unfazed by my frustration and concern and basically tells me that they don't have a phone issue because he did the installation. I find him to lack any true social skills or understanding. He did apologize, but it did not seem genuine. Overall, I find the staff really polite. I also think the pizza is great but the issue with Mike will keep me from returning. I requested to speak to the owner, but I was informed that he was not there and Mike looked at me like I had to be kidding him to even ask for his father. I never write reviews and hope that this does not fall on deaf ears. I think the pizza is great but customer service really...
