I have attended this place off and on for well over 20 years and tonight’s experience was absolutely the worst, we arrived and got seated, took 15/20 minutes to get our drink order, finally got to order, the appetizer came out in a reasonable time frame, the fried mushroom had a lot of water dripping out of them, the marinara had water pooling on the top of it, we ate most of the appetizers, we then proceeded to wait another 35 minutes to receive our order, when the order arrived we noticed the southern fried chicken salad we ordered had cold chicken on it, the fries were undercooked and cold and I clearly specified no mayo on my sub, we’ll surprise it was loaded with mayo, prior to noticing the mayo I picked the sub up and it feel apart from all the grease at base, of the roll looked like it had been soaked in water, all aspect of the quality of food ,and ultimately the prices are off the charts in my opinion, we got 2 subs 2 appetizers and a the salad and two drinks,,,,,just shy of 70.00 with tip, usually I wouldn’t mind paying 70.00 if the quality and service is there, but in this case, slow service, incorrect order cold undercooked food, and pricing was off the charts, this use to be the place to go, sadly I won’t be returning, I would encourage everyone to be cautious especially with the undercooked food glad I didn’t order any seafood...
Read moreI've eaten here dozens of times in the past but hadn't eaten at J&P since pre-pandemic. Maybe I was there on an off day but my food wasn't nearly as tasty as it was in the past. I love both chicken and eggplant parmesan, I always loved the chicken parm at J&P. I order it so much it's a joke in the family my sister always ask me why I even bother to open the menu because she said I know I'm getting chicken parm. Naturally, I had chicken parmesan and it wasn't nearly as tasty as it used to be. The chicken wasn't breaded which I thought was really odd and the sauce appeared to have little or no spices in it I like the sauce to have an Italian seasoning taste but that was missing. The server was very nice and checked on us often. I have a friend that's a chef and I do understand that a restaurant can have an off day if the regular chef or cook calls out sick I'm hoping that's what the issue was on the day that I visited. Because the food was always consistently delicious in the past I'll definitely give J&P another try soon. I've always believed it's really wrong to write off a restaurant if you have just one less than stellar meal or one...
Read moreI will preface this review based on that my husband and I are NJ/NY transplants and we have been to Italy. The menu of this location looked very good so we decided to give it a try. The food was about average for Maryland Italian. We had the fettuccini Alfredo, mozzarella sticks, strawberry salad and a side Italian salad. It all came with a piece of plain bread and garlic bread. First the side sala strawberry spinach salad was good. Although it's hard to mess up a salad. The mozzarella sticks were average sticks with average marinara sauce. But the fettuccini Alfredo was not up to par. It was overly oily and didn't really have any flavor. The plain bread was just pizza dough shaped I to a triangle and was lackluster. The garlic bread was by far the worst thing we received. The bread was cardboard like and it was just not good. I gave this place three stars because the portion to prices were good but the actual food was not worth...
