My husband and I have been coming to the Hampton Diner for years and the quality and service has drastically declined recently.
Tonight we came with my in laws for dinner after going to the German Christmas Market at Lake Mohawk. We sat down in a back booth and one of the bus boys took our drink order. Our waitress then showed up and got mad when we said someone already took our drink order, she asked us about 3 times if we really ordered drinks.... We finally placed our dinner order and then waited... And waited... And waited about 40 minutes until we watched our waitress put on her coat and leave!!!!
Another 10 minutes goes by until we finally flag down another waitress to ask about our food!!! When we finally get it everything was cold and had clearly been sitting there a LONG time!!! All we ordered was a grilled cheese, a margarita panini and a Cali avocado burger!!!!! We asked for the check as soon as our food came... And only when we stood up to leave 20 minutes later did anyone bring us the check.... Which wasn't even ours!!!
We stood at the front counter for 10 minutes while the manager or owner tried to figure out which bill was ours, including trying to give is a $45 bill with a bunch of kids meals on it....
They never apoogized and the only word that was said to us during this entire exchange was that she waitress had to leave..... Ok? That means you don't ask someone to cover her tables??? We paid our $32 bill and finally left an HOUR and a HALF after we arrived!!!!!!
As I left I told the manager/owner to please send someone to the table that was seated next to us because they had no service also. I can only hope those people aren't still sitting there waiting to be helped!!!
Idk what happened to this diner?! It used to be a favorite of ours and we recommended it to everyone coming to the area but after tonight I think I'll just got to Yetters Diner or The Chatterbox down the street!!! Next time maybe an apology would be a...
Read moreMy wife and I ordered the prime rib on the menu. My wife always likes her a little well done not burnt a little well done. When the dinners came out both of them were very small portions smaller than the Queen cut. And very grizzly and very chewy. And it seemed to be left on the chef's carving board too long it was rather dry. My wife was more dry and burnt. We had nothing to say and we just ate our meal and went on our way. For 75 or excuse me $80 I could have gone to a higher class restaurant for The prime rib dinner. The atmosphere is absolutely noisy to the extreme with people talking in their high voices. Not enjoyable when the voices are that loud You can't enjoy your dinner. It was like trying to eat at a carnival with thousands of noises and people screaming and hollering talking high voices. I don't know how many times this diner has changed over times or it's the same owner but things have changed a lot. The last time I visited this place was approximately 5or or 6 years ago. I cannot give this an honest rating the waiter tried his best but food quality was not on par of having a good prime rib dinner for over $80 plus tips, so I'd say almost $100. And the atmosphere was absolutely horrendous with noise. Well this will be the last time I go to this diner. I go far as back when this diner was called the Gemini, and when it was completely run down and nobody wanted to go there. Then some new owner took it around and made a good place to eat when I was living up in Sussex county for 20 years ago. Now it's...
Read moreWe dined for breakfast as a group of 12. We each ordered different entrees so you could see each one was prepared and plated beautifully. The food was delicious. The menu is expansive so you’re sure to find something on there! The hot chocolate was excellent. The prices are a tiny bit high. Two of us ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and a drink. There was only a sandwich with no side offered for $8.50! The sandwich was also a regular size. One on white toast the other on a roll. The cost actually turned out more than what was listed on the menu as well somehow and wasn’t able to figure the cost since it didn’t specifically list our sandwich, just the variations of it. I would strongly suggest bringing cash as there is an up charge for using a credit card which should really not be charged but already included in the price of the food being the food is rather pricey. That charge has always been an expense and cost of doing business for restaurants and retailers so not sure why they’ve put it on the customer. The atm machine there was also out of order. It will be very noisy in there during busy times so plan on coming on off times if you don’t like the noise. It’s a great choice for families, kids and they also have a room for private parties. Our server was fantastic, very attentive and efficient. The diner is very clean, very classic and a satisfying...
