Poor customer service, accountability for mistakes, and lacking consistency in serving size.
If you value customer service as much as you do a good meal then La Michoacana (Hampton, GA) may not be the place for you.
Our family placed two GrubHub pickup orders. We placed the first order on Sunday, November 22, 2020.
Part of the order contained • Guacamole Dip (side order) • Jalapeno Cheese Dip (side order) • Frijoles Charros - Pinto Bean Soup (cup)
We placed the second order on Friday, November 26, 2020.
Part of the order contained • 2 x Guacamole Dip (side) • 2 x Jalapeno Cheese Dip (side) • 2 x Frijoles Charros - Pinto Bean Soup (cup)
After returning home we noticed the sizes of the containers for the second order were completely different from the first order. We called the store, and asked to speak with a manager. We spoke with Mayra, who identified herself as the owner.
After explaining the problem the owner provided her cell number in order for pictures to be shared.
A simple solution...."I apologize for the mistake. I understand your frustration, and why you would have expected something different. I am willing to adjust your order today, based on what you received Sunday. However, moving forward future orders will be filled correctly.
The owner never apologized on the phone, through text, or in person (each recorded). Instead, she stated they were at a loss too if we returned the food. She said there was no correction to be made, because we actually received the right packaging but more quantity then we should've with the second order also. The owner was rude, in an arrogant sort of way.
To be clear, the aluminum pan and styrofoam containers in the first order were only half full and not as large as they appear. We could only assume all of the packaging was correct with the first order; especially since we had never ordered any of these items from La Michoacana before.
In case you're wondering?
The Frijoles Charros - Pinto Bean Soup is to be packaged in the styrofoam cups pictured in the second order. The cups actually contained more soup than the aluminum tray.
The side order of dips are to be packaged in the 4oz. clear containers pictured in the second order; and half full.
So, the pictured guacamole dip that is half full in the second order is the serving size we should've received for each dip. The owner said the serving size for a side of dip is 2 ounces.
$2.00 Jalapeno Cheese Dip 2oz. $1.75 Guacamole Dip 2 oz. $4.25 Frijoles Charros (cup)
The first order was $8.00; and the quantity was as expected. The second order was $16.00; and the quantity was not as expected.
We placed the second order around 6:55 pm. Picked up the order around 7:30 pm. After returning home, contacting the owner, and then returning the order it was 9:30 pm.

Read moreSo this was my very first going to this restaurant. We had a group of 5. So 2 adults and 3 children ages 4,5 and 14. I want to start by saying the food was phenomenal. Every single item we all ordered was cooked to perfection. Everything was freshly cooked to order and tasted perfect. I do want to say this first off, I am not a big alchohol drinker. I may have a glass of wine here and there but that's about all. So for drinks I ordered water and a Mojito. It was served in a margarita glass. It was way to sweet and only tasted of mint and some type of sugar syrup with ice. It was a fairly large drink so I expected for the price and the size I would have felt something being that I do not drink often. So it being my birthday I decided to order a glass of Hennessey. It was severed in a bourbon glass on ice. "Perfect" this should give me the relaxing feeling I was looking for after traveling over 3hundred miles. NOPE NOTHING. IT TASTED LIKE APPLE JUICE. NOW I MYSELF HAVE NEVER TRIED HENNESSEY BEFORE BUT I KNOW IT DOSEN'T TASTE LIKE APPLE JUICE. SO I WAITED!!!!!!!!!
STILL NOTHING!!!!! THEN THE BILL CAME. WE HAD3 CHILDREN ORDERING VERY CHEAP ITEMS OFF KIDS MENU. NO APPITIZER JUST DRINKS AND OUR MEALS. SO FOR 2 ADULTS AND 3 CHILDREN OUR BILL WAS OVER $120 DOLLARS AND THEN I SEE THAT SHE PUT ON A GRATUITY. FOR 5 PEOPLE??.? LOOK I HAVE BEEN A SERVER SENSE I WAS 15 and I am now 37 so I know what it's like. But come on 5 people? Our server was very nice top notch service. My issue was the GRATUITY and the drinks. They where not alcoholic drinks at all. In fact my brother in law that we where staying with is a local police officer in that county. I got him to do a breathalyzer test just because I truly wanted to know if I was just loosing my marbles or not. But long behold I was not wrong at all. I had not consumed any alcohol at all. Sooooo I'm just going to leave it at that and just go for the food next time. Because that is honestly the only reason we came because our family goes there once a week. It is worth going to for the food only... IN OUR EXPERIENCE WE WHERE ROBBED WHEN IT CAME TO THE DRINKS 🍸😏, SO FOR THAT DECEPTION ALONE WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK UNFORTUNATELY. JUST BE VIGILANT OF WHAT YOUR DRINKS TASTE LIKE. AND LASTLY. I COULD HAVE TOLD THE SERVER BUT SHE WAS VERY BUSY AND SHE DID DO A AMAZING JOB. BUT I DID NOT WANT TO BE THAT CUSTOMER. THE ONE NAGGING AND BEING NUTS. I ALSO DO WANT TO MENTION THAT WE LEFT HER 20 DOLLARS EXTRA AFTER THE 13$ GRATUITY. SO FOOD FOR THOUGHT. Read moreEditing from 5 starts to 2 stars. A few weeks ago I ordered Shrimp soup and 1 chicken taco. The server taking my order asked if I could please pay over the phone. He couldn't really understand me in English so I spoke to him in Spanish (fluent). After a few times of trying to read my card over the phone he stated it did not go through so I said okay no problem I will pay when I arrive. I arrived and paid with my debit card but the transaction was still pending on my credit card. I called the bank to dispute per their instructions stating they've been having connection issues with paying over the phone and the charge should fall off ( so why would you demand to take my payment over the phone knowing youre having these issues 😅). This was an inconvenience for me but okay I get it stuff happens.
Moving to today's issue. I ordered an order of tacos and asked to sub the rice and beans for fries- the server taking my order stated there would be a $2 upcharge ( never heard of this at another Mexican restaurant) so I responded lets just order a la carte. I asked for the beef on the side for the beef hard shell tacos so the hard shell wouldn't be soggy- this was another upcharge for beef on the side. I then ordered 2 shrimp soups and asked to please put the avocado on the side - the server taking my order stated there would also be an upcharge for this. At that point I was mad. I asked her to speak to the manager. When she got on the phone I stated how I had been double charge in the past and now they have all these upcharges that I've never experienced before. I told her eventually the charge dropped off and her response was “ oh okay so then we didn't upcharge you.” Basically dismissing the time I had to take making sure the double charge didn't stick. She then proceeded to take my order and she said she would waive the avocado charge on the side but all of the other charges will be there. She stated the extra charges are because of “extra containers.” After ordering 2 shrimp soups, 2 orders of steak tacos, 2 hard beef tacos, fried and an a la carte chicken taco my total was $80?! I had to take a few things off because I've never paid $5 for 1 taco and I'm not about to start. When I asked why $80 we added it up and it was$70.50-so not sure what else she tacked on my order. I’m so disappointed from these last 2 experiences as we live 35 min away from the restaurant and we go out of our way to order from here because we loved the food and service.
