Long but thorough review !
I went out for Taco Tuesday at Stuft on January 17. Arrived about 6:30pm the parking lot was full I could tell that they were packed. They have a seat yourself policy. I walked in the bar was full no seats. All food the tables in the main area were taken besides one that I walked up to but had a reserved sign on it. I make my way to the bar through the crowd to get a menu. A nice bartender with a thick beard was helpful and let me know about specials. I found a table in the back. I was sitting down for maybe 10 minutes before my waitress got to me. I ordered a mini margarita on the rocks which was delicious and strong. I also ordered the spicy jerk tacos without bacon because I don’t eat pork along with a shot of 1800. After ordering my shot didn’t arrive for another 10 minutes. My two tacos still haven’t came out yet. So I asked can I order some chips and guacamole she said yeah yeah. 20 minutes later my two tacos are brought out they look amazing. I’m excited to try them. I bite into the taco and the flavor was delicious but I tasted something unfamiliar and crunchy. That’s when I realized that my tacos had been made with pork bacon. I spit the food out and told another waitress my issue and she corrected. Since I haven’t saw my waitress for about 10 minutes. She apologizes and I reorder instead to try the sha rimp tacos . I’m waiting and waiting 10 minutes go by my original waitress came over to apologize and to say I’m so sorry it’s usually not like this in here. I say no problem can I have another margarita while I wait for my tacos. She says yes of course. Goes makes the margarita comes back in 5 minutes my food isn’t out yet. I drink my margarita. 15+ minutes have passed and I still haven’t received my tacos or chips and guacamole. So when I saw my waitress again I asked her for the check and to go boxes because at this point I’m ready to go as soon as they bring my tacos. She said okay yeah. So they bring over the chips and guacamole with the to go containers. I’m like no tacos yet cool. Eat 1 or 2 chips then wait. It’s been another 10 minutes no food yet. I’ve already paid my bill I’m ready to go. So I decided to wrap my chips up and ask for a REFUND of my tacos since it’s taken them entirely too long to complete 2 tacos. The manager or person in charge didn’t ask me why I wanted a refund or say is there anything I can do to make this better for you. In fact she only spoke about me to my waitress asked what table and why a refund. She acted as if I was not there which I did not appreciate. I wish I could’ve saw her name tag. Cause her demeanor was rude and shut off. She didn’t even say thank you have a good night nothing. Ended up leaving the establishment by 8:30 with nothing but chips and guacamole on my stomach. Overall it seems they are understaffed and couldn’t keep up with surplus of customers they had on Tuesday night. Can’t say if I’ll be back to...
Read moreI heard a lot about Stuft it’s definitely being talked about. And by Google Maps rating 4.3 stars. I’m a mega Mexican food fan, I tolerates what we here in the States call Mexican. It’s way to tame no I’m not saying it’s not hot enough. Hot isn’t a flavor. True Mexican food is full of flavors not just heat. Every bite is an experience for the taste buds. I went for lunch on Friday at noon there wasn’t much of a crowd. I was told to take any seat. My very enthusiastic server “loud” was intent on getting our order as fast as possible. Interrupting our obvious conversation to do so. We asked for a few minutes indicating we were in no rush. After discussing our choices I made eye contact with say server leaning nearby expecting she would let our server know we were ready to order. She arrived quickly and just as loudly enquired of our orders. After assessing that the kitchen did have chorizo I asked to sub it in place of the chicken in the Farmer Soyadilla (not certain why it’s called such no soy in it.) as it seemed to have many ingredients to offer that taste excitement. Fresh spinach, jasmine rice, refried black beans, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and the chorizo I requested. Built on one large 10” tortilla definitely not 14” described in the menu. There was fresh spinach and black beans spread thinly, no jasmine rice unless it was just lightly sprinkled over the the beans, there was “chorizo” but but if I was served this meal without knowing what was supposed to be in it. I would have mistaken it for any other ground meat. Now to be fair do they make their own? And it’s very lightly seasoned? Or it’s some brand that has no idea that chorizo is supposed to be full of herbs and spices? But it was near flavorless. No pico was served with the quesadillas maybe it too was hiding inside with the jasmine rice. Pico de Galla is normally served on top or on the side. I requested sour cream to which I was quickly informed there was a surcharge for no problem bring two. What came was some type of house made ranch dressing. By this point I’m pretty much done trying to salvage my meal as enjoyable. I settle for my stomach being full. At noon the atmosphere was pretty sedate but with high tables and torn vinyl covered barstools being the seating. I’m imagining the place has a pretty hopping nightlife. There is better Mexican food available in the...
Read moreIt’s taco Tuesday and me and the family decided to try the highly recommended restaurant STUFT. We decided on to-go which was cool since it’s only a 10 minute drive. First… it was packed. Someone was directing me where to park, which was actually a plus to me. I go in and they have live music which was also a plus. People seemed to be really having a good time. I asked another person where to go to order since you seat yourself and I was directed to the end of the bar. I ordered the Sha-Rimp tacos, the Jerk tacos, the Bulgogi egg rolls and the Smoked wings in Asian Zing flavor, which came to over 70 bucks. Now, I arrived at about 730ish, which I knew I would probably have a “little wait” seeing its Tuesday and the time I chose to go, however I had to wait AN HOUR!! Never doing that again. I will make sure to order in advance next time. Now speaking of that, when I tell you the Sha-Rimp tacos were the best I’ve had in a while… delicious. My son said the Jerk tacos were also good. As for the egg rolls, my son said they were a little salty (I don’t eat beef so he had those too) but he said they tasted okay as well. The wings on the other hand, the smoked flavor was good however they didn’t seem to be completely done. I understand some “pink” but when you can barely bite through it and it’s all chewy, it’s not for me. The outside had a nice charred crust but they could have been cooked a little longer. All in all the experience as a whole wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible either. On the upside, as I waited the tall somewhat built bartender did apologize a few times for the wait and asked me if he could get me something to drink as I waited. I’ll probably try this place again, I’d just eat in and choose a different entree. Check out the photos below and...
