This is a quaint little ice cream shop. As you can see from the pictures there's this super cute ice cream bench that sits out front. There is plenty of seating inside if you would like to enjoy your ice cream at a table and there are even a couple of couches or of course the cute ice cream bench outside. This location is in downtown Hampton so the parking can be a little tricky since it is right off of the road that goes through downtown Hampton. Sometimes you can find a free parking spot right in front and other times you may have to circle the block or park behind the businesses that are lined down the street.
The last few times we have visited there's only been one person working so there's typically a 10 to 15 minute wait. If you are ordering a Waffle Bowl they do make it to order. Might I add that they're waffle bowls are one of the best waffle cone batters or recipes that I tasted. Most of the waffle cones are very hard and crunchy and not necessarily flavorful. They're waffle bowls are a little bit softer and thinner and just delicious. On my last visit I ordered an empty bowl just so I can have more of the Waffle Bowl lol. There are multiple homemade flavor options so you will definitely get a taste of the Season such as Peach cobbler, banana pudding, etc. Of course you're always going to have your traditional flavors like your chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, Etc. With these being specialty ice creams though they do not taste like run-of-the-mill ice cream. There is a view of the kitchen so you can catch them making this delicious homemade ice cream if you go at the right time. You can also order a shake or coffee drink. There are cookies available on the counter and slices of some cakes. I've never tried the cookies or the cake because it never looked appetizing enough, but that's just my opinion. We come for the ice cream and always enjoy the ice cream. I am hopeful that eventually they will add a dairy free ice cream option so I have my...
Read moreFirst time visiting this little spot. So the Pros first...The atmosphere reflected the name of the shop. It felt welcoming walking in. Very clean and the smell of fresh waffle cones and baked goods gently hits you. The young man at the counter gave excellent service and it was very clean everywhere. There was a good amount of choices, that included alot of the usuals, plus some flavors you dont see everywhere like Green Apple, Lemon Crunch and Good Ole Banana Pudding with Vanilla Wafers included. All the different colors was nice too. The ice cream was very fresh and seems like there was good ingredients used.
Cons-The flavors weren't strong enough and a lil off. I had Butter Pecan and Coconut. I tasted the pecans but not the butter. The Coconut flavor was very subtle, as real coconut is. But an a ice cream I think it needs to be more pronounced and a lil sweeter. And I think the price point is a lil high in relation to the servings. Two small scoops, which were maybe half a pint was $6.00. One scoop was $5.00. If you take into consideration, most of the leading brands pints are right around $4 (take or give .50) then half that size is a lil expensive at $6.
But overall not a bad experience for an after dinner stop. Will return to try some different flavors and also the cookies and brownies. The Pistachio was almost empty, so Im guessing it's probably good. Thanks for...
Read moreI came to Welcome Home on a Thursday evening. I wanted to tryout the new ice cream shop in town. I was so unpleasant with my experience trying to support this business. The two female workers weren’t welcoming at all. No one said anything as me & my family walked in. I came for cookies n cream & was informed that I would have to wait 10 minutes for ice cream. I kindly declined because if you see that ice cream is low, the ice cream should have been replaced. My mom wanted strawberry and was told the exact same thing. My mom decided to get a different flavor. After we left, we sat outside so that my niece, mom & sister can eat their ice cream. There were customers in line behind us, so I watched through the window to see if anyone would be served the strawberry & cookies n cream ice cream that needed to “sit for 10 minutes until it can be scooped.” I noticed other customers getting the requests that my mom & I wanted. I wonder why? It was definitely not 10 minutes later for the ice cream to be scooped. I’m so disappointed in the service my family & I received and I was looking forwarding to trying out the new...
