Aurelio's Pizza — Restaurant in Hanover Township

I'm leaving a 5 star review because I am impressed with the service at this location. As an avid pizza lover, I order from different establishments and different locations on a frequent basis. I typically don't receive or expect the wonderful, caring service that I got from this location. Long story short, I had people over at my new home and I was treating everyone to pizza. Unfortunately there was a mistake made where one of my large pizzas did not arrive with the rest of my order. This was of course not ideal, but mistakes happen. As soon as the driver realized his mistake he apologized profusely and said he would run back to get my pizza. It turns out another driver had taken it by mistake, so me and my guests had to wait while the other one was remade. Again...not ideal, but mistakes happen. When I asked if there was anything they could do on my behalf since the pizza they already brought would get cold waiting for the other one (and the one not delivered was for half my guests), they got management involved and immediately took care of me. When I called back a few days later to make sure my refund was still coming, each person I spoke with was compassionate, professional and very empathetic as they went out of their way to apologize for the mistake. As a consumer, I don't expect perfect service...it's not possible. What I really appreciate about this situation is the quick action that was taken as well as the entire team going above and beyond to care for me each step of the way. Went up to cedar lake for family business and stopped in before the event to eat supper. Aurelios is my favorite pizza in the region. (Thin crust) We ordered a family salad,breadsticks,drinksand pizza for the 4 of us.Got the salad and stix pretty promptly but the pizza was still MIA. After being there about an hour overall it was time for us to go to our event. I was going to box up the pie and get going,not to be late, no big deal because we weren't starving now. Our waitress came by a few minutes later and said they were just putting our pizza in the oven and it would be 10 minutes or so to get it. Very apologetic and it was a simple mistake. I told her our situation and that we really needed to go and she walked away. Upon returning a minute later she comped our pizza,salad,,stix and drinks. We had to pay nothing. Also instead of waiting on that pizza she had us order a new one after our event to take home fresh since our event was down the street. I also ordered another one as well for leftovers,that's why theres 2 fiestas in my pic. Her name is Gionna,(spelling) and we so appreciated her over and beyond kindness and professionalism!! This slip up will never deter me from the Aurelios brand or the Lake location. The place is clean and the food was spot on killer as usual. Aurelio's Pizza in Cedar Lake, Indiana is one of the best pizza places we've ever visited! I can only describe the pizza, although they have a varied menu, and as we discovered tonight, also a buffet on Mon, Tue, & Wed. The buffet looked appealing, but we ALWAYS get pizza, just pizza! The crust is crispy, the sauce is a perfect blend of tangy and sweet, and their cheese blend is amazing. My husband enjoys their authentic Italian sausage, and I LOVE the super 6 pizza, although after a few pieces I put the meats on my husband's plate--I prefer the veggies. I can only say positive things about the wait staff, too. We are never rushed through the meal, even close to closing time like tonight. The entire staff is positive, upbeat, and friendly. The restaurant is unfailingly clean throughout, including chairs, tables, menus, floors, restrooms, and even the windows! The only negative thing I can mention is that the restaurant lacks signage on US 41, and we usually come close to driving past it even when we are looking for it! Just so you know, the restaurant is 1 property South of a huge sports complex and shares a parking lot with it. For those who wish to dine "al fresco" Aurelio's has a patio dining area.
