The Works Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in Hanover

I stopped here during my thru-hike and had the Super Chicken Melt sandwich. It was so delicious that I wanted a second. I also had the Berry smoothie and tried the peanut butter one, and both were very good. The only complaint I have (hence the 4-stars) is the default "tip calculator" when paying for the food. I just wish restaurants would stop begging for tips and focus more on great food and service instead. Why should I tip people for doing their job. I served the country for 27 years and never got a "tip" from a citizen. Thanks God the FedGov is taking good care of me upon retirement because otherwise, I wouldn't be able to afford eating in places like this one to begin with, much less...

The food was actually pretty good — flavorful and well-prepared. However, one thing bothered me. When orders were ready, they called out names, but neither mine nor my girlfriend's name was ever called. As a result, our food sat there while we waited longer than we should have.

Honestly, this kind of thing has happened to us more than a few times. For the record, we actually go by names that are very easy to pronounce instead of our real names.

That said, I do want to reiterate — the food itself...

I was going to rate the works 5 stars for the phenomenal prices, super quick service, but the only reason why I give it 4 stars is because I ordered the super chicken sandwich twice but the quality comparison between the two times were strikingly different…. The second sandwich was noticeably worse (still good but not as good) and missing the red sauce while the first one was absolutely delicious! Confused and hope the consistency is better…the location is prime though and nice...
