Hong Kong Kitchen — Restaurant in Harahan

I don't usually leave reviews, however, i just moved to this area and had been looking for a good chinese place for about 6 months. I finally found it! First of all, its not a fancy place, just a run of the mill looking take out. However, the lady taking my order was very nice. My order came out in probably 5 minutes(quick) even with steady traffic. But most off all, the food is seasoned well. Not bland or dry. The food tastes fresh ( my fav dish is shrimp and broccoli and i had a major problem with my shrimp being soggy, overcooked, or old at other places. These were not. They were very juicy. They offer all your classic options....not this inegrated NOLA cuisine mixed in. I've often wondered if that integration of spices in the kitchen is what gives a lot of chinese places this weird aftertaste that i've been experiencing. Overall, im very satisfied. And this is a good 15 min drive from my house and im willing to go there. Chinese food is one of my favorites and i havent been able to get the taste i've been wanting until i came here. I wish you were able to put zero stars but you must at least put one to write a review. I been wanting to try this spot for a while now but wish I would have never. I have health issues & if I don’t eat I get really sick. My fiance & I went in because I was not feeling good & needed to eat & we were kicked out. I done worked in restaurants & we were NEVER allowed to tell customers that they had to leave. If someone came at 9:58 and we close at 10:00 we had to let them in and had to wait til they were done even if it was til 12:00. Don’t even waste yall time. How are you going to kick me out when I just spent money. I’m NEVER going back. Y’all do not deserve business being like that. They are all rude & disrespectful. Coming from a customer that would have gave them business everyday.

replying back, umm no we actually came at 9:15 and we were definitely going to leave at 9:30 I just needed to take a few bites so I did not pass out. I have health issues like I said. It’s a business. Y’all don’t need to be out at exactly 9:30 because y’all should not start cleaning or closing up til 9:30. I worked in restaurants and that is VERY unprofessional. DO BETTER or don’t own a business at all....

the food itself is a 4, general tso & orange chicken is sooo delicious. you just have to accept you may have some deep fried gnats. the amount of gnats in the store was unbelievable. the first time i hadn’t seen any, but this day i just wanted to cry. gnats we’re swarming EVERYWHERE!!!! all over the ceilings , they were attacking me. I WILL NOT be returning..I was a regular a year ago, when they had the black plates, but this recent time I can’t go back after seeing that. maybe if i go in before ordering and making sure there’s no gnats, i may consider but I don’t think i can after seeing that.. I know every place has gnats, which i can understand, but this was TOOOO many.. like too many to NOT be in your food. But the food is good, still taste as good as it did a year ago.
