I've eaten here for decades. Normally, Zea is consistently good but I was disappointed yesterday. I typically order the Pesto Trout and know what to expect, pan seared on the bottom & infused with pesto. This time, it was burned on both sides and overly salty. I considered returning it to the kitchen but my daughter's easily embarrassed so I just pushed it aside. Later, when Colleen our server came back and asked how my fish was, I answered "ehgh" with a disappointed shrug. She didn't ask if I'd like to order anything else instead so I let it go. In fairness, it was Mother's Day so perhaps the staff was tired by 7 PM but I'll think twice before ordering that again. Another odd thing: In conversation with our server, it came up that we were there for my daughter's b-day. Imagine our surprise when a different server brought my daughter a big ice cream. This was a nice gesture but to plant it in front of her within 5 minutes of bringing out our main courses was ill-timed. Later when the server brought the bill, she pointed out that there was a charge on it for the ice cream but said they comped it "because it was her birthday." Given that we didn't order the ice cream, it shouldn't have been on the bill...

One of the most racist locations for the Zea's Rotisserie. I've recently had to witness either patrons of color treated less than, and now staff. This is the last straw. Yesterday I tried to walk in with my husband and I had to witness two managers badmouthing one of the colored servers. It was unbecoming and we changed our meal to a Togo order on that instant of walking into uncomfortable conversations. Not sure who thought this was a good idea, but we stepped into the 50's last night at Zea's and not in a good way. They should be ashamed. Togo gal said the Older lady with glasses is Teresa and the overweight man with too many tattoos is Bradley. The gal at Togo was helpful, but was too busy and seemed to be having a panic attack or medical issue. She was not breathing well and I asked her if she was alright. She said she was fine and didn’t make a fuss. She was sweet but whatever is going on in that store seems off with the whole staff.

Our food was alright, but it used to be better. The quality has slipped. We had eaten here for 20+ years. Now we will try other spots around us.

We don't support white supremacy and now we don't support Zea's...

I always wondered what the infamous Zeas had to offer welp I finally got my experience. The service was good the waitress was attentive, the atmosphere was really nice the food proportions was pretty decent for the price but the taste of the food wasn’t as good as to be expected, I had the stuffed salmon with crunchy asparagus & mash potatoes collard greens & mashed sweet potatoes & strawberry tea ( had no taste whatsoever just colored water) & a frozen alcoholic fruity drink ( I don’t remember the name) unfortunately the alcoholic fruit drink is what I would return for the most. The fish was pretty tasty everything else was not so tasty ; mom had shrimp & grits ( that was pretty good), I don’t remember the name of the salad & sandwich but they were ok as well. The dessert was strawberry cheese cake I think & brownies which comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream they were delicious, I love the presentation of the...

Zea Rotisserie & Cafe on Hickory Avenue in Harahan (just a stone’s throw from Elmwood) offers a solid dining experience that’s hard not to appreciate—even if it doesn’t quite knock your socks off. The rotisserie chicken is reliably juicy, the Thai ribs have a nice kick, and the roasted corn grits are a comforting side that rarely disappoints. I recently had the Honey Island chicken sandwich and it was delicious. Absolutely recommend the hummus. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a casual lunch or low-key dinner. Service is generally attentive without being overbearing. While some menu items might not dazzle every time, the overall consistency and friendly vibe make it a dependable go-to when you're in the area. It’s not revolutionary—but it doesn’t need to be. Zea delivers exactly what it promises: good food, good service, and in a welcoming environment. Sometimes, that’s more than enough.
