Harlan County Beer Company — Restaurant in Harlan

Over the past few months, I have tried out the beer company several times- and it gets worse every time. I am not sure what has happened, but the food is just inconsistent, and the owner is extremely rude. For instance, when I have ordered the Chicken and Waffles- it has been served differently nearly every time, the chicken is burnt harder than a rock, and the waffle is soo greasy that when you press on it with a fork, grease comes running out. Half the time, it comes with whipped butter (as advertised in the menu description), and half the time, it doesn't. Half the time, the fries are seasoned, and half the time, they aren't. See the pattern? The first few weeks, the food was absolutely amazing, and so were the drinks- but now the food is pitiful. They lost the only good bartenders they had, and it seems as though they are facing the consequences of bad management and undervaluing good employees. If you are a tourist- AVOID- this place is overpriced, and you'll get much better food and drinks right down the street at the Portal. I hope they are able to get their act together and get consistency back in...

Been building this restaurant up to my other family members and they decided to go with us tonight. Most of the items on the menu we wanted to order they didn’t have. Like bake potatoes, lettuce for the salad, ribs, the smoke bologna. It been a Saturday night it been nice to be able to order what you wanted but overlook it. We had to ask for silverware. Never got refills. The waiter we have her several times and she always been excellent but she was just probably busy tonight which is understandable. The food was not as good as what we had previously my steak was cold and thin but I was willing to overlook all this cause I know everyone has bad nights until it was mandatory that we pay almost $40 tip. I feel like I shouldn’t had to pay that much with service we got. Talk to manger she just made us feel like it was our fault for not saying nothing earlier. If service would been good I wouldn’t seen no problem for tip but why have to pay almost $40 tip when didn’t have what we wanted to order, food wasn’t as good tonight...

I normally hate leaving bad reviews but this place is BAD! For starters I am a larger, disabled person with back and neck issues and the chairs were too small and caused me a great deal of pain. The hostess took my wife's drink order and completely ignored me. The appetizer (cheese bites) tasted exactly like I've had at fast food restaurants dozens of times for a fraction of the price. We both got burgers and they both tasted burnt and flavorless. It was obviously premade, frozen patties and the fries again tastes like they were straight out of a fast food restaurant. Also while we were sitting there I saw someone come out of the kitchen and walk by our table with a box that had the words "Pre-Cooked Bacon" on it. This was followed by several people with filthy kitchen mats. By the time we got home my wife was sick to her stomach. The $70 we paid for this awful meal just confirmed that we will never be back.
