Schoolhouse Creamery (Ice Cream) — Restaurant in Harlingen

NOPE! Never Again! I went in for one traditional banana split. That is a banana, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, ice cream, and toppers, with whip whipping cream. I was told that the toppings were gonna be chocolate, pineapple and chocolate, but that is their standard topping mix. Explain to the gentleman I cannot eat strawberries because I am really deathly allergic to them, so then I was allowed to order something else instead of strawberry. The woman who owns the establishment, does not want to order or does not order the banana split boat lids. So, beware Harlingen, if you order a banana split to go it will look like the picture I have attached. They do not have paper bags to put them in, or boat lidsto cover them, I have ice cream all over my floor in my car. Steer clear of this until the lady figures it out because this was totally wrong $20...

Dear ice cream fans,

Whether you want ice cream on the go or in person, this family owned business of 10 years has it. I had the privilege to interview the owner and stop by her shop. A very humbling person who appreciates each customer that walks through the door. Awesome customer service!

This weekend on March 15th, they are going to celebrate 10 years serving the 956. Please stop by and support local businesses.

I would recommend the caliche road as the classics they have there. Another fan favorite would be the bourbon with ice cream. All classics are delicious. Remember, their ice cream is made daily and they run out. Please be patient with them.

I had high hopes with so many good reviews, but was disappointed because it was just mediocre ice cream. The cooler seemed like it had been left open too much, leaving the ice cream overly soft and half melted. The girl serving the ice cream couldn’t answer basic questions about what was in a few of the ice creams, for example the sweet potato ice cream. And the price- almost $8 including tax for a two scoop in a waffle bowl, that’s just steep. It wasn’t bad ice cream but the mismatch of the quality, service and price was too much to rate this place...
