Fabulous!!! I rate this restaurant a 5.0. !!!

We are SO HAPPY. Black Bear is in Harlingen!! If you register online, you receive a free breakfast coupon from a selected menu, a value of $10.99! We shared 2 pancakes, an egg, and two slices of bacon. This was more than enough food for us both.

During our visit, they brought around free freshly squeezed o.j. to us. Cool!

Our waitress, Erica, was very attentive. Received a visit from one of the managers, Leslie Mireles, just checking in to see if we were happy campers. She was at McAllen, and they transferred her because of her expertise, so she could assist with training the staff.

The eggs were cooked perfectly; the pancakes were nice and fluffy, and my Mom asked for crispy, crispy, crispy bacon, which was also spot on. Coffee was great and refilled frequently. I got the mocha cold brew, and it was tasty. We ordered extra items, sugar-free syrup, and more butter (the kinds of stuff some wait staff immediately forget!), and the extra requests were promptly delivered and not neglected. Mom has always stated that a restaurant that offers Smuckers jelly (which was on the table) is a tell-tale indication of an establishment that doesn't cut corners to save a penny!

All staff were friendly and happy in their jobs with big smiles ear to ear. I know, and I am sure you do also, that only excellent and supportive top-down management can generate that type of employee satisfaction. Even the checkout folks, including Sabrina and another gal, I did not catch the name of, were very pleasant, and excited to see us and inquire if we were satisfied.

Black Bear will certainly be giving Cheddars a run for their money. But I believe there are enough folks to support both restaurants in this area.

I would definitely recommend you give it a try. I'm sure whatever you order will be scrumptious! We will definitely return without a free coupon!

Also, they open at 6 am. for breakfast, if you are an early bird. My grandma was fond of saying that early birds get all the worms! Enjoy and comment on your experience if you like.

First time visit, there was a line of people waiting, we proceeded to sign in, but as we were only 2, we were seated immediately. We were just seated when Rudy walked by and greeted us and asked if our drink order had been taken, we said no and that it was our first visit. Rudy explained he was not our waiter, but took it upon himself to explain the menu and bring our drinks. Rudy did not have to do this. Hats off to him. Rudy exemplifies great customer service. Thanks again Rudy. Next came our waitress, Patty, she also took the time to explain the menu and gave us her favorite menu picks. We took her advice. I ordered the biggest breakfast plate, The Grizzly. It contains 2 sweet cream pancakes, I substituted them with french toast, 3 over easy eggs, 2 thick slices of bacon, 2 sausage links, & a smoked ham steak, and finally I selected a side of grits with cheese & bacon as per Patty's suggestion. Thanks Patty you were not wrong.I ordered the endless cup of coffee. Nicki selected the 2 egg classic combo, 2 over easy eggs, 4 slices of thick bacon, and the strip cut hash browns. She had the sweet tea.Needless to say the serving sizes are Definitely worth the price. The food was amazing, our compliments to the cooks. Finally after an amazing breakfast, the front manager, Ciara, came over to our table and greeted us. Ciara talked about the diner, inquired about our experience and thanked us for our visit.
