Johnson Southern Style Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Harrisburg

First time here and didn't know what to expect. Thought it was a walk up place at first but was told it was a drive through so had to re adjust. Food was pretty good although we thought we would get out of the vehicle after a long trip but apparently that wasn't going to happen because we weren't allowed to park. I'm also going to assume that we showed up at a inconvenient time as it was just the owner unloading supplies working by himself when we got there. Will definitely be back in the future and I'll update this if seating is available.

Back to the food.... The Italian beef I got was good and seasoned right... but I didn't understand how adding hot peppers to it turns it into a Philly cheese steak.... Just no .... That's not how that works lol. The turkey breast sandwich was delicious and you could taste the wood smoke, definitely not a added liquid smoke taste. You can tell the owner wants things to be right and to deliver a good meal that's worth...

This is the greatest, Bbq, local business. It's my favorite BBQ sauce on the world! I've lived in Florida and Missouri, and Tennessee , yet I always missed Johnson's BBQ sauce, and I'm actually a vegetarian. So I buy the sauce and sides, and add it to my veggu burgers. It's all natural ingredients. I buy the BBQ for the rest of my family, and they all race about it. This is more of a take out kind of place; there is no in door seatinf, but if the weather is good, you can dine outside, he has a few tables. Drive up and order, or call in to go. If looking for some local flavor, this place is a must! Buy a bottle of his Southern BBQ sauce, and also the sweet and spicy, both are fantastic! You will want to take the sauce home! You probably want extra 's gifts. Great stuff, great local food, great family...

This place is a Harrisburg institution. Over 30 years of great memories here as well with Rupert being as close to kin as any of the other family members in the area. It was the first place to eat when visiting my grandparents, then lunch everyday, and subsequently the last place to eat before leaving.

Thank you Rupert for your wonderful food, creating the world's best BBQ sauce (don't think I'm leaving a review without mentioning the incredible sauce. We order CASES of of this flavorful alchemy), and even better memories. The Sutton family sends it's love and wishes you and yours the best.
