I don't know who the reviewers are, but the overwhelming majority of them cannot be real.
My partner bought some items from this place based off of the reviews and we couldn't be more disappointed. Let's break it down.
Onigiri (Tuna & Pork) Both onigiri were subpar. Pork was the better of the two, but that isn't saying much. The tuna onigiri tasted nothing like I've ever had in my life and I had to throw it away after three bites; my partner threw it away after one. I was intrigued by the Pork onigiri, but this was still not ideal. It tasted nothing like pork and the flavor wasn't anything particularly amazing. It was just better than the tuna. Both of us ended up throwing it away.
Taiwanese popcorn chicken This was straight up terrible. I don't know who cooked it or what, but the chicken was rubbery and there were burnt edges on each one, so it added a layer of bitterness to each bite. The flavor was something unique, I have to admit, and if prepared slightly differently with more care into frying it, it could've been a homerun. My partner simply spat it out after trying one and I threw it away after trying three in a row. Almost gagged on the last one, actually. It was also unnecessarily oily and greasy. Completely underwhelming and not good.
Bento Box (Vietnamese popcorn chicken bento) Wow. TV Hungryman dinners are superior in quality. They gave a sorry excuse for sushi rice, terrible vegetable accompaniments and had mashed potatos/corn/broccoli as sides inside of it. It was so atrocious that I didn't even eat half the box for fear that I'd get violently ill. This is microwaved and lazy. My partner and I took 3 bites total (I took two, she took one) and we just threw it into the garbage.
I don't know if this was a bad day for them, but this was by far some of most atrocious food I have ever had in Harrison. Seriously not good food. I won't recommend others to stay away, but please measure your expectations accordingly when ordering takeout from this establishment.

Read moreI'm speechless, this is food you can get in Taiwan, and you don't need to hop on a plane. Forget the boring Taiwanese restaurants in Edison, NJ....Ding provides traditional items with a twist.
Bento boxes have nicely marinated meat cooked to soft textured perfection. My teriyaki beef had a sous vide softness. Each bite of meat was melt in your mouth. Same for the braised pork belly. It has a caramelized, soy sauce taste I haven't experienced in a long time. Veggies are crisp, a good addition to the decently cooked rice and meat. Concluding that the bento boxes are a balanced meal with well thought out flavors.
Onigiris! Better than Mitsuwa. When Ding makes specials, they are serious on creating what you can't culinarily find at these traditional places. My soft shell crab onigiri had the perfect texture and taste. A crunchy yet soft soft shell crab that is not too salty. Just a nice balance of meat and soft plump rice and avocado. You won't stop at one, I would know because I ate two in a row. For all of you that don't know how to open these onigiri packages, this is how we open it in Taiwan haha, find a YouTube video.
A special shout-out to the pork cutlet. There is something in it that I can't put my finger on. It's not your usual 5 spice flavoring, and the cutlet is perfectly juicy with sweet cabbage, sour pickled cabbage, and rice to pair along. The quintessential Taiwanese dish.
They have nigh market themed food like oyster pancake. Savory meal.
I'm running out of room to finish up this review, but they have so many other food I could list. One more ex. Beef noodle soup is perfect. Let the natural msg of the beef talk for itself. Noodles are not too big and sloppy, they are a nice thinner texture so you can appreciate and focus on the beef flavor.
Get yourself a toasttab account and gather up points trying this place. Pricing is good during these inflated times, and you won't find many new Taipei/ABC themed Asian restaurants like this anywhere in NJ. I hope to see continual success and expansion for another...

No way I am going to NJ on a weekend... unless a good brunch is calling. @tiamtiamnj is a Taiwanese centered, Japanese/Korean fusion fast casual spot in Harrison, NJ. They recently rebranded from Ding Food Market to the new face, Tiam Tiam (which means "be quiet" in Taiwanese) and launched a super exciting brunch menu.
🍠 Taro Boba French Toast 芋泥法式吐司- see previous post
🦪 Fried Oyster Noodle 蚵仔麵線- Their version of Orh Ah Mee Sua, crispy oyster in thick, gooey dashi vermicelli noodle soup.
🧇 Taiwanese Fried Chicken & Scallion Mochi Waffle 鹽酥雞鬆餅- the sweet hot sauce makes it more korean than taiwanese.
🦀 C.E.C (soft shell crab, egg salad, cheese) 軟殼蟹堡- american cheese seems a little redundant. I wish to taste more of the egg salad.
🍚 Breakfast Congee 台式早餐粥- classic combo of crunchy youtiao and pork floss.
🥓 CharSiu Glazed Thick Cut Bacon over Rice 叉燒培根飯- melt in your mouth pork belly.
🧋 Milk Tea Yogurt Bowl 奶茶優格- housemade milk tea yogurt and granola is a great healthy-ish dessert combo.
🐙 Takodog 章魚燒堡- takoyaki in a hotdog form. The octopus was incredibly tender.
🍮 Taiwanese Pudding 芋泥豆漿布丁- old fashioned pudding that I haven't seen in a minute. This is again a very light dessert. Gotta love when Asian chefs understand the meaning of not too sweet.
🥪 Sandwiches - we tried three flavors, crab salad & ham, taro pork floss, and tea egg & potato salad. All super fresh and remind me of sando from Taiwan 7-11.
The mixture of classic Taiwanese with modernized asian fusion are presented in this home style kitchen with a lot of thoughts and care. You can tell almost everything was made in house, especially since you can't find them elsewhere. For this one time I convinced myself that Harrison is only a Path ride away from NYC, it was...
