L & S Diner LLC — Restaurant in Harrisonburg

Traveling out of town I wanted some home cooked breakfast. So I googled this place and went. First of all, my food came to $13 which wasn’t a problem. The problem came when I opened my plate and it was just eggs n sausage.. no toast or biscuit that I specifically asked for. Then, I didn’t know that GRITS were an extra charge “for breakfast plates “ like WOW. How is that even possible. So ok Cool I took it as is. But then I look and my grits that I “paid extra” for are in a very small cup which was only half full with my cheese that I “paid extra” for stuck to the bottom of the cup 🤦🏾‍♀️. Ok so atp I have no biscuit a table spoon of grits n no cheese because I can’t scrap it from the bottom of the bowl . So I ask for a refund .. I was told I had to speak with Emily . Emily questioned me as to why I wanted a refund. I explained to her why I wanted a refund and then mentioned to her at the end of the day, you forgot my biscuit and it is apart of the order. She goes to say, “Well I got your biscuit over here, that’s easy that’s nothing.” She then proceeded to say “just give her the money and don’t let her take that box” .. I mean really? Why would I take food that I just asked for a refund for? She had the nastiest attitude EVER, she was very rude and disrespectful to me; However, she did give me my refund. I’m 6 hours from home And I wouldn’t advise anyone...

My sister-in-law and I tried this diner out yesterday. She had the garbage omelet and I had the biscuits and gravy with home fries. I cannot comment on her food except to say she said it was delicious and she wanted to come back again next week. My food was really good, and it was ready quickly. While the home fries could've stood to be grilled a little longer, they were still pretty good. The biscuits and gravy was amazing though! Biscuits were crumbly on the bottom and soft in the middle, the gravy was seasoned just right. Just like my grandaddy used to make! Please be aware they only take cash and check. This is the only problem we ran into because we didn't have cash on hand. Another customer kindly offered to loan us the money to pay for our meals which 💓💓💓 (thank you so much to that lady and her husband. Faith in humanity for Harrisonburg is restored.) Friend service and great food. First time eating at L&S diner and I wonder what took me 30 years to go. Driven by it hundreds of times but wanted a good breakfast so I took my kids. Gave a lot of different items a try and everything exceeded my expectations. Diner was busy, cash only which I like. Reasonable prices and everything was made to order. Biscuits were delicious, oatmeal was hot and good with an old school charm. Garbage omelet was great regardless of the name. Kids had French toast and ate it all. My kids had grits for the first time, love me some grits! I would definitely go back. Lots of history since it opened in the 1940’s. Recommend going and I’ll be a returning guest in the...
