Two years ago, I wrote that Mi Pueblito Grill provides outstanding Oaxacan cuisine in a rather lackluster structure. Now, I have to share how incredibly impressed I am with their recent transformations, especially the hugely enlarged menu. What stays the same is that their preparations remain better than any of the meals I had while growing up in ELA, and in every other Mexican restaurant I have visited in the US.
The new decor warms up the atmosphere a bit. The chairs and tables remain plain and the place settings are functional and far from fancy. But it is the elegance of their meals that compels returning often.
They’ve always had fantastic food, and their new menu is full of new offerings showcasing the deep and complex flavors of Oaxacan cuisine. At my last visit I wanted to see what they do with the pervasive dish carnitas. Carnitas is served in nearly every Mexican household and eatery, and I was curious about what it would be like in the hands of Oaxacan chefs. Their offering was absolutely spectacular -- rich, ample, and surprisingly served with nopales.
What Mi Pueblito does is not done anywhere else in the area. The owners have invested so much heart and hard work into their restaurant, and it has paid off beautifully. They've taken an out of way spot and elevated it into a must-visit destination for both novel choices, as well as the typical Mexican restaurant fare. I will be back very soon to explore more of the new menu! Harrisonburg is lucky...
Read moreA real authentic Mexican food restaurant, that's all I can say.
Their prices vary but talking about what you get it's on point.
I tried Burrito, empanadas, gorditas and some other 🍽 on their menu. Was definitely like being eating out on Mexico. Their sauce is really good too, they have 2 kinds there's a hot 🔥🥵 and there's a green one with some cilantro on it, real delicious.
Definitely to me it's a place to visit more than once a week, their food it's just amazing and how they treat customers it's more important. Last but not least they are open Monday through Saturday, if you're looking for a nice place to eat great food I invite you to go to Mi Pueblito Grill, trust me you won't regret that.
BTW the most important thing to know about authentic Mexican food is that they don't really use salt at all but onion, cilantro and chile 🌶 so meats won't be that much salty like...
Read moreMi Pueblo Grill 2 is one of my favorite spots in Harrisonburg when I want truly authentic Mexican food. They don't serve the normal Americanized Mexican food that you are familiar with at most Mexican restaurants here in the US. Their food is some of the closest to replicating the food that I have eaten in Mexico while traveling down there. The restaurant is set up fast food style. You order at the counter and can either wait for takeout or they will bring it to your table. My experience is that it only takes about 10-15 minutes for your food to be ready. If you dine in you will drop your empty plates at the counter and they will come out and...
