I ate here yesterday. The customer service was exceptional. Very friendly people. The food however, could use some work. The pechuga (chicken breast) made here was probably one of the worst tasting chicken breasts I've ever had. It was bland, but that wasn't the primary problem with it. For some reason, it felt like I was biting into a rubber tire. Seriously, this isn't an exaggeration. It was practically inedible. Fortunately, the mofongo was pretty good. I also had their beef and cheese empanada and it was delicious. They really need to work on the chicken breast recipe however. I don't know if I'd come back to try anything else.

Came here with my PR boss/friend for some authentic PR food. This place did not disappoint. My spanish is terrible but I had the PR rice and steak with pickled onions and plantain maduros. My friend had similar but white rice and beans. We also had some fried things, one was potato and beef and the other was something made with plantains. Also tried the roasted pork mofungo. The passion fruit juice was awesome as well. Overall this place had great service(for my friend). This would be a bit harder to order here without knowing Spanish/having someone with you who knows what everything is. Thanks everyone!

Hey, its your girl honest review. Tico's hit the spot 😋 They are friendly, and food is always fresh! I got pernil with the cwispy skin, rice n gondules and beans, and sweet plantains on the side. I ate some, so my pic ain't how i got it, okuurr. Smack dabbbity dab, delicious!!! They were busy because, duhhhh, 😆 Def, check them out if you are craving Spanish food on the southend of hartford, on franklin ave! They are budget friendly, 2 meals were $18!! Until next time, Peace!

Went to tico’s the other day with my husband and the two ladies serving the food were blasting music to the point where they couldn’t hear us so we had to yell over the music. The two ladies also kept joking around and pushing each other, and they were flirting with the male customers. I had to keep repeating myself because the ladies kept fooling around as i was ordering. As i was ordering for my husband i asked if she could try not to put so many onions on my husband’s plate, she sucked her teeth and said oh my god with an attitude, very unprofessional. Tico’s was a place i loved to go, but after that experience, i would not...

Ticos is arguably the best Puerto Rican restaurant in Hartford. DEFINITELY my favorite! The food is always amazing, try the pork & plantain pinchos. Over the past 8 years I've been a satisfied customer of there's. The staff has changed but the owner is the sweetest lady & her dedication to a clean restaurant & top quality food is more than admirable. I tried the blood sausage once, a dish I wouldn't try if I didn't trust the restaurant. I was surprised by how good it was. Don't forget dessert! Their oreo cake is LEGENDARY. They have an excellent parking lot too, not always easy to find parking...
