Vista Alegre — Restaurant in Hartford

We are not expert in judging Peruvian food, this being our second time trying. So this review is for folks who are venturing into trying something different for the first time.

Compared to other Latino cuisine we know well, feels like Peruvian food (on both occasions in different restaurants) tasted bland. Although the presentation and portion deserves 5 stars, the main spice we tasted were salt, vinegar. It lacks depth and cooking flavors. The colors looked inviting but when you taste it, seems like a disappointment. It suited us that evening as we didn’t want anything too spicy as one of us weren’t feeling well.

We enjoyed the service - our lady waitress was friendly, patient to explain the menu, and even offered to let us sample the Peruvian drink.

Restaurant decor is traditional and restroom is clean. Plenty of parking.

Delicious authentic Peruvian food! I've been twice in the last two weeks and have not been disappointed. Waitress are sweethearts and very attentive. Suggest calling ahead to see if it's busy and double-check the address since they moved to a new location on the same street... we had issues finding the place at first. But the pescado saltado, filet Frito de pescado, pescado sudado & chaufa mariscos we're all amazing. Wasn't a fan of the fish Ceviche because it was too salty but I let them know and they took it off my bill. Highly recommend going there! Better than Cora Cora ...

This last time my family & I were there the food taste different n not in a good way. It needed more condiments for what my mom. Niece, brothers, n nephew said. My civiche de pescado was ok, but it needed more squeezed lime juice. Idk if u guys changed cooks or what, but u need to cook like u used to. And table service took years to serve my family's table, while they watched how many bags for delivery went out the entire time. I was late n when I got there is when my tale finally got served.
