We will start from the beginning. The walk up to the front door is already setting up the atmosphere with the old wood and bricks, you start to feel time and history beckoning you in. Upon entering, the lighting is darker, setting the mood, getting you comfortable, you're greeted by the host and seated. Our waitress was social and sweet, although a little overwhelmed because she was new to waitressing, she did amazing. Promptly bringing our drinks and salads. The dressing for thr salads was too good. I should have known then, we were in for it. A few minutes go by, long enough for my bf and I to finish our salad and discuss our plans for the day when our food arrives. We both ordered the 12oz ribeye. I ordered the onion straws and sweet potato casserole. He ordered pinto beans. Everything was beautifully presented. The onion straws were crunchy and flavorful to the last bite. The sweet potato casserole made me whole body shiver with pleasure. A mouthgasm so epic that my bf had to stop me from ordering seconds. I now have a spiritual need for that sweet potato casserole. As I considered making that my appetizer and main course for our next visit, I cut my steak. I honestly could have cut it with my fork it was so tender. That first bite sent me over the edge and I had to grab the table to hang on to the world. Blessings from the universe upon the cook of the steak, and his family. This was the most flavorful, tender, lovingly prepared steak I have ever consumed and I welcomed it into my body. Oh! The pleasure of eating it had me transcending time and spac. The gods themselves have visited the cook in his dreams and shared with him these recipes, mere mortal could never. Without hesitation we tipped our wonderful waitress a crisp $20, make sure you tip your waitress well! I immediately needed a nap when arriving home. There was too much to digest physically and spiritually and my mortal brain needed to rest and reflect upon the...
Read moreI highly recommend The Freighthouse Restaurant in beautiful Hartselle, Alabama. Conveniently located off of I-65 in the historic downtown area, our party of five included a one-year old. The weather was beautiful, but chilly on this Sunday during the Christmas season so we were delighted to find a roaring fire near our booth and a dining room beautifully decorated for the holidays. The staff was pleasant and I recommend calling ahead for a reservation which we did. We dined right at 11am when they open. When we left, there was already a crowd waiting. Our party enjoyed the meat and 3 which was like salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and included peach cobbler. I had the Signature chicken salad which included a roll drizzled in honey, amazing cranberry salad-a frozen delight. Next time I’m trying their salad sampler because the pretzel salad on the seafood signature salad sounded good too. Coconut shrimp and bbq panini were ordered but I’m not sure we would get that again. The bbq didn’t have much flavor. We ordered dessert to go since we were so full. The strawberry cake was out of this world and peanut butter cake was very decadent. I love the way the starter pimento cheese with pita chips and pepper jelly sauce was presented and is probably the main thing I would go back for—sooooo good! Ask for LOTS of pita chips; they are so delicate and crunchy. Such a picturesque setting, we enjoyed walking downtown enjoying the decorated train station, took a picture on the gazebo, let the little grandson run around a great outdoor playground for kids—all within a five minute walk from the restaurant. I’m coming back to eat lunch and tour the...
Read moreI recently had the most delightful dining experience that left such a lasting impression on me. The food was absolutely fantastic, but what truly made it remarkable was the sense of tranquility and serenity that enveloped the entire atmosphere. It felt as though time stood still, allowing us to savor every moment and truly indulge in the pleasure of a leisurely meal.
What struck me the most was the warm and inviting ambiance that made us feel as though the restaurant belonged to us alone. We were not rushed through our food; there was no sense of urgency or pressure to leave. Instead, we were treated to an amazing, calm experience that truly felt like our own little oasis.
The staff were incredibly attentive and attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall sense of relaxation and comfort. It was evident that they understood the importance of allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the dining experience. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant until we reluctantly left, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of blissful tranquility.
All in all, our dining experience was nothing short of amazing. The combination of exceptional food and an atmosphere that encouraged us to cherish every moment made it a truly unforgettable occasion. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a peaceful and memorable...
