I was in town over the weekend with my dad and step mom. I called in an order at 6:37pm, and they said it would take about 25 minutes. I waited to go in, so I could give them a little extra time to prepare the meal. We had pretty standard menu items (pad thai, fried rice, spring rolls, you get it..) on the order, and when I got there, there was a friendly young guy who assured me there was no problem and that I may have my order in 10 minutes. Needless to say, I didn't get out of the restaurant until 7:50pm--which means I spent 45-50 minutes waiting, with no updates, no apologies, and no incentives to get me to come back. I got a response "well, we had 9 call ins, and yours must have been the last..." Is that your way of apologizing??? I stormed out with the meal and rushed home.. The food was thankfully as ordered, and delicious, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. Otherwise, this place does NOT know how to run a restaurant or expedite in a kitchen. Severely disappointed that I didn't get an offer for a free beer or anything...
Read moreWe’ve been to bowtie a few times and it’s always been a terrific experience. We love the architecture of the building, the way the inside of the restaurant is decorated with the restored natural brick walls.
Everything that we’ve gotten there is been good. Typically I’ll start off with a Thai tea which is sweet like sweet tea, but has cream in it. It’s absolutely delicious. Typically will also have an appetizer usually calamari. They are just a tiny bit on the tough side, but in a pleasant way. Fried slightly firm. Come with a sweet-and-sour sauce that’s very good.
Our usual meal is one of us gets pad Thai and the other gets volcano chicken and then we share. The two dishes are very different and it makes for a nice contrast. Tonight my wife had the curry with chicken in it and it was delicious. We’re both suckers for coconut milk , so it was really up our alley.
Downtown Hartsville is very nice. If you’re looking for a spot to go for dinner and then a walk and maybe a sweet treat down the street, it’s...
Read moreBefore ordering, my wife and I noticed the Chinese motiff, along with some Thai motiff. We were not sure if this establishment is owned by Chinese, so we asked waitress if the cooks were thai and we were informed that they are indeed Thai. We have eaten Thai all over the world, it is one of our favorite meals. I have had Chinese cooks cook Thai before and the results have not been good. This was the case with this restaurant. They used powder mix for there Tom Yum soup, which was fine, but it did not have cilantro or lime and no cilantro in the kitchen! What? We ordered the massaman because we thought they would not be able to ruin that. It came with some sort of peanut powder that gave it a mediciny (not a word I know) aftertaste. Ten minutes later I am still trying to get rid of the aftertaste! We are not sure what the other items on the menu taste like. But we will not be coming back here. My wife and I are here on business. For those who have gone to mediocre Thai places, this is way,...
