Went for the pizza. It was a bad experience the entire time. We got there 30 minutes before close, and I asked the hostess if they were aiming to be out by 10 or if they just stop seating people then, and she said we were perfectly fine to come in. At first, I was pleased with the ambience, with the decor and Christmas music, but that's where it ended. We ordered an overpriced pizza ($21.99 for a pepperoni that had maybe 12 pepperonis on it) and the fried ravioli. The ravioli was not crispy at all, and had a thick breading on it (that was falling off). The pizza was thin crust even though I specifically said I wanted hand tossed and NOT thin crust. The pizza crust is flavorless and dry. The cheese was bland. After being unable to eat the pizza, I was just enjoying listening to the music, but then heard an employee loudly say "can you change the music? I'm going to kill myself" and then they changed the Christmas music to something else. They started turning off lights and cleaning all around us. We felt VERY unwelcome, which is WHY I asked the hostess when we first got there. All of these concerns were brought up to the manager but he only took off the charge for the pepperoni, and sided with the rude employee about the music. We left just after 10pm, which was their posted closing time. Thanks for ruining our only holiday outing. We...
Read moreThis used to be one of our favorite places in town to eat but the service and food has taken a downward spiral. The last Calzone I got was still doughy and had very little meat. I had to finish baking it at home and they did not give me any sauce. The last spaghetti plates we got, the meatballs were cold in the middle. Who wants spaghetti and meatballs with no meatballs. We quit going for awhile but went tonight and ordered a gyro salad and the Philly cheese combo sub and i was given the Philly Cheese with lettuce and tomato instead of the combo and the tomatoes were stuck on top of the roll instead of in the sub. My husband's gyro salad didn't have any meat in it. We called them and they told us we could come back and get a meal card. We took it back for a credit and told them that they could keep their meal card..3 strikes and you are out. It's really pretty sad. Times are hard for everybody but when I pay for a meal, I want what I pay for and you definately don't get it at the Downtown Cafe anymore. We are sadly...
Read moreWe had a Gyro and French fries. That was very tasty and a generous portion. When we entered the restaurant, there was a couple sitting in the booths in the very 1st section and then in the next room there were several police officer sitting And then a table not far from that with 4 gentlemen sitting We went and sat at a table against the wall because it was the right size table. There was no one else in the room. Waitresses came in several times and took care of everyone else, but did not notice us even though one of them looked directly at our table a couple of times After 20 or so minutes one of the white races happened to notice us and say, oh I didn't see you over there . We were about two tables past the four gentleman. The room was sort of dark , but not really dark. When she finally came and started waiting on us things went...
