Dar Rafiki’s — Restaurant in Haverhill

I really wish I didn’t have to write this, because the food here is very good and it’s a great spot to pick up something if you’re in the go… but to warn others, if you’re going to place an order for pick up, be careful.

I called and asked if I could place an order for 10 Dubai Chocolate Strawberry cups. They said yes, took my name and time for pick up. I arrive to pick up, and they never made the cups. I was disappointed because the whole point in placing an order is so you can just pick up and go. These were for an event, which I was AN HOUR late to because they never made the cups. They said they would make them, and I said okay well I have a couple other things to do so while you make them I will leave and be right back. 15 minutes later, I come back and NO STRAWBERRY CUPS 😫 I said … what happened?? They said something about the owner said no and chocolate will get hard (i don’t know why they would make these cups with chocolate that gets hard, but it did indeed get hard at the event which is also a negative)

They said it would take 5 minutes to make all 10 cups. So I had to stand there while they chopped strawberries and layered each cup for 20 minutes. They threw in a dessert for free… but I feel as though I should’ve gotten a discount because their communication was very poor. So sad…. Unfortunately will not be placing any orders for pick up there...

I come all the way from Groton mass I was a Haverhill local for 27 years of my life and was so hyped up when this place opened the staff is unbelievable and they recognize your face when you come in which is very very important to me, they know my face When I come in and they make me feel so welcomed this morning (I have crippling anxiety normally) There was a woman sitting outside, who looked like she hadnt eaten and was in rags I looked at her and I said are you hungry? She asked me for money. I said I can give you food and water. Do you want something to eat and would you like some water? She looked at me and she said I am hungry. Do you have any cupcakes that you can get me I said I’ll go into the bakery and ask when I went into the bakery unfortunately there was no cupcakes, but there was plenty plenty of delicious options when I went to check out and pay for her food. They asked me if it was the woman sitting outside,it was I tried to pay and they would not let me. They said that I was doing a good deed I will forever be a customer of their bakery, and I do suggest their bakery to everyone. they are more than a bakery They treat you...

Dar rafiki’s bakery is a must try for anyone wanting some in-house baked pastries that are not over the top sweet. In a plaza with free parking, it’s easy to run in for some delicious food. In the past I had a chicken shawarma sandwich, spinach and cheese croissant, and cheese and leek croissant. On this visit I purchased the famous “cube” of the day, lemon, an apple filled croissant danish (asked for two of these but ended up with one apple and one cheese - no big deal, I like cheese too!), and a plain croissant.

The cube: flaky, buttery on outside and the lemon filling was light and mildly lemony but not too sweet or sour - 👍

The plain croissant was light, crispy, with a soft custardy feel on the inside, I can’t wait to stuff the me with ham and Swiss and warm it a little!! - 👍

Both the apple and cheese danish croissants were crispy on the outside, buttering on the inside with a good ratio of filling. These were well balanced too and not too sweet. - 👍

Staff and owner are helpful and friendly. Highly recommend...
