This is my first-ever one star review. I was in Haverhill to drop a friend off to a dealership next door and upon leaving, I stopped into this cafe to get a cup of green tea and also a cookie. The cashier, who was pleasant, took my order and then took the order of a family of four after me. The family looked like they had just come from either a function perhaps it was a church service or a funeral or whatever it may have been. The staff then proceeded to do the order for the family first without acknowledging my existence after they had taken my order. I waited about 15 minutes before I just left since I was only other one in the cafe. Considering that the order consisted of pouring hot water into a cup and adding a tea bag along with taking a cookie out of the bakery case in the front, seemingly these are things I can be accomplished pretty quickly. As someone who owns cafes, This was pretty appalling to see the lack of service and care. I don't want to make this about potentially more than what it was but it's something that needs to be addressed with staff to avoid what happened to me to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYour flavors, atmosphere and staff have always been stellar!! Unfortunately the quality of the food not so much, as my partner and I who have gotten food here twice now months apart have gotten massive stomach cramps and pain after eating our two separate meals each time. The first time we thought was a fluke, but after revisiting and having two separate meals and not eating from each others plates, my partner and I are again very ill and in awful stomach pain after eating our respective meals (mine was the pulled pork fries, my partners having been the Margarita pizza). Itās the second day now and we are still in stomach pain, unfortunately the leftovers will not be kept. We donāt know why we both got sick considering we ate separate things, but we hope it isnāt due to cross contamination or other bacteria not being cleaned properly. Itās very unlikely we will be coming back to try again after feeling this sick after eating it a second time. The flavors are PHENOMENAL which really is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell, it looks like I just bought my last pizza from River St. Cafe. The original review I left (below) was from just two weeks ago, but in that short time their prices just went up by almost 25%! The pizza that I always get has been costing $19.25. Tonight it cost me $23.80. That's an increase of more than $4.50. How is that possible? Where's your cost River St. Cafe? Flour? Water? Because that's all you need to make dough. Canned pizza sauce? Cheese? A few veggies? Frozen pre-made meatballs? I get that costs increase in business, but how do you jump up 25% in just two weeks? That's too much for me. I'm out.
Pizza is such a personal preference. I prefer an Italian style pizza, which is what I believe River Street Cafe provides, as opposed to a Greek style pizza. Haverhill, of course, provides mostly Greek style pizza, so it's a real pleasure to find a pizza place offering Italian style pizza. And they make it fantastic! As far as I am concerned, it's the best pizza...
