Date of visit: Mon Aug 21, 2023 When driving through Maryland, enjoying crab is always on the menu. We looked for a small, local place that offered a nice crab meal that would satisfy our cravings. We found that in the Promenade Grille. Located right on the waterfront, the promenade grille is a small local diner seafood shack. They have many typical summer shack items, but true to Maryland style – crab is the main item. We ordered a soft shelled crab sandwich with cucumber salad, and a crab cake sandwich, and both came with hushpuppies. The meals are served very fresh and hot, and everything wa absolutely amazing. They have a lovely covered patio where you can enjoy your meal, rain or shine. After you enjoy your meal, you can walk along the water on a boardwalk and enjoy the views, the wildlife, and waterfowl. There are 2 museums along the way that you can visit. Along the way – you will find a lovely park, with a pier with carvings of local birds, and a light house. This is the perfect place to get a delicious Maryland crab meal with a view.

A well known and beloved place for many. A lot depends on whether or not you have a family with you and whether you are getting a full meal or just something to snack on. At an average price of about $15 per person for a meal and $72 for our family of five, there are other full service restaurants that can provide a much richer experience for a family at that price-point or just a bit more. As for the food don't expect the burgers to be cooked to temp, all of ours were well done and dry, and the fries were limp and rather bland. Nothing but the view differentiated this place from a McDonald's. But it's local, so give it a shot. Maybe get some ice cream and walk the nearby boardwalk.

We enjoyed our visit here. The hush puppies, clam chowder, salmon special, and kids chicken fingers were good. However, the kids hot dog was a sad excuse for food. I’ve seen gas station hot dogs that look and taste better. The staff was very friendly and the food was decently fast. Nice outdoor, covered, dining area and you can see and hear the water. Close to the public restrooms that have a family restroom and were surprisingly clean. Had ice cream after dinner and it is what you’d expect. A nice wrap up to a mostly good dinner. We would eat here again.

On behalf of the individuals who this happened to, myself, & everyone we know, we will no longer support this business. July 5, 2025– a female customer stood at the window, simply asked a question of what happened, explained that she (and her mother) were told there'd be a full menu still available, that her mother is disabled and has a stomach disease (could not eat what was on the now altered menu). They, in turn, replied by rudely telling her that "In the grand scheme of things" the problem was "not a tragedy" & it was "their problem, not ours". When the male co-owner of the establishment came up to the window, I heard this woman calmly state that she was understanding but still just upset at the fact that her family was provided with misinformation regarding full menu not being available (as told to them it would be). But, as she & this male co-owner spoke, the female co-owner further mocked her & proceeded with rude attitude toward her. Then, this female customer stated that "In the grand scheme of things, you did not have to be so rude" to the female co-owner before calmly walking away from the window. She rightfully called her out on her attitude, lack of care, & unprofessional demeanor. To stand there and tell a customer that it is "their problem, not yours" & to condescendingly say it is "not a tragedy", then to further making mockingly snide condescending comments, continuing to be downright rude... shows a complete lack of professionalism. A customer absolutely has a right to say when they are being treated poorly, & that they do not appreciate it. This is what she did– properly called them out on it & walked away…. annoyed, but still... she simply just walked away. At NO time did she make demands or display aggression, nor did she raise her voice, cuss, or become hostile. There was no reason for what happened next. The irrational and overly inflammatory reaction to this female customer was certainly not a proportional response to the situation, & was truly disturbing (to say the least). Myself & the entire patio saw the female co-owner fly out of the side door, screaming "YOU DON'T GET TO WALK AWAY FROM ME!" & then standing 2 inches from the female customer's face. The male co-owner followed. Everyone standing on that patio believed that the female customer was going to be assaulted, & the customer's mother looked like she was going to have a heart attack from the anxiety they gave her in this interaction. Both he & the female co-owner were yelling, demanding that the female customer "show some respect!" towards THEM! They were saying that the female CUSTOMER was being rude to them, & demanding an apology, when the whole time it was the female co-owner who was downright nasty, unprofessional & rude. Then (for no reason!) the co-owners threatened to call the police to have the female customer (and her family) removed from the premises! If anyone should have called the police, it should have been the female customer & her family to report a credible threat of potential assault upon her. I know that every single person on that patio turned to the other and asked if WE should have called the police because it truly did seem that this female customer was going to get beaten by the female co-owner & the male co-owner wasn't there to stop it. The female co-owner walked back into the restaurant hut, screaming that she does not need to show respect to anyone & can "talk to a customer any way I want to!" Really? Is THAT the way being a professional, respectful business owner goes?!?? Perhaps they should take some money from the establishment & go back to Business School to study what proper Customer Service & maintaining good P.R. truly mean! So, in the "grand scheme of things", we all believe it is of the utmost importance to avoid a potentially dangerous situation in dealing w/ 2 narcissisticly abusive individuals who both seem to have a strong propensity for violence. For our safety & the safety of our friends, families, etc, we are not going anywhere near this establishment or the likes of them...

In response to Review by "Susan" (dated July 6/7, 2025) and reply from female co-owner of this establishment– I stand by "Susan" review as well as the review by "Victoria". I was also a witness to the events of that day, and it went exactly as these two reviews have stated. As for response from female co-owner, it serves to further prove their point. Nowhere within the actual interaction with the female customer and nowhere now is there even the slightest bit of apology. There is only a nasty, condescending attitude of the female co-owner, and (once again) false blame placed upon the female customer alone. Response from the female co-owner was that the female CUSTOMER was disrespectfully rude, also that these individuals expected preferential treatment. SMH! This statement is false! AT NO TIME did these individuals display an arrogant nature of entitlement, never did they become aggressive, never did they raise their voice, never did they cuss. The owner's response to “Victoria” is also an outright lie! They DID NOT “have a problem with this individual earlier”. FACT is that I heard the male co-owner at the window “Oh, yes, hello, you were here earlier today”. SMH! If there was a problem before, she would not have been greeted like that by him! This establishment just keeps on lying and proving everyone's point at how they truly have anger issues. As stated before, (in regards to the female customer) there was simply a question (and disappointment expressed) [at the window] in why they were provided with incorrect information regarding menu changes for that evening. A simple "We apologize for the miscommunication between us" would have been the appropriate (and absolute professional) response to have given the female customer…NOT the attitude and condescending tone in saying "In the grand scheme of things, this is not a tragedy", the situation is "her problem, not yours", later storming out of the building to get in the face of the customer, threatening her and her family, acting aggressive and potentially violent towards them. Within the female co-owner's response, there is no acknowledgement of her actions, no accountability, no apology… but, also no denial either (come to think of it). To say the female co-owner acted rudely in response to the female customer is an outright lie. It is sheer manipulative gaslighting of the situation to remove blame from the actual wrongdoer– It was only the female co-owner (followed by the male co-owner) who both exhibited absolutely irrational, inflammatory, nasty, rude, and aggressively hostile (as well as potentially violent) behavior. All the female customer did was call her out on it by saying back to the female co-owner "In the grand scheme of things, you did not have to be so rude!". And, as a customer, she had every right to do so. Apparently, everyone is supposed to just take the abuse? For as the female co-owner quite eloquently put it– "I can speak to and treat a customer any way I want to!" (Apparently including nasty, rude, and unprofessional). Unbelievable! So, the only problem here is not what the female co-owner falsely says in her response– The only problem is that the female customer did not accept the unprofessional, rude behavior and the female co-owner's narcissistic ego couldn't stand to let her say so, just as they cannot stand others standing up for these individuals and also saying that they (the owners) were wrong. I'm sure the owner will respond to this review as well. They have a truly overly obsessive need to be the right one and the winner of the situation. No one is trying to “win” here or be a “warrior” (at least not on our end). We’re simply expressing outrage at both of the owners' disturbing behavior and lies. They want to discuss previous actions? Look at reviews from other online sources, too– shows a history of their rudeness, cursing, using vulgarity, yelling and threatening other individuals. This was not an isolated incident. Most certainly won't be the last. Nothing further to say. Owners continue to prove our point....

This place has new ownership and apparently they have anger issues. Just glad after the way the other people saw how we were treated they lost a whole lot of customers. My daughter did not understand why we were told all day July 5th that they serve soft shell crab until 800pm..when we had lunch here at 1130am we decided we wanted to eat again for dinner..so we made sure to ask several times when they serve the soft shell crab until..even before the situation happened 15 minutes before I had gone to the window and was again told they had soft shell crab until 800pm..well my daughter goes to the window for me because I am disabled and they were so SO rude. Saying all they have is hamburgers now and hot dogs..so my daughter said oh my mom had just asked. So the woman owner says a load of really nasty words for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON! so my daughter says WOW YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE SO RUDE.MY MOM HAS A STOMACH DISEASE SHE CANNOT EAT MEAT..and proceeds to walk away from the window. With that the both owners come out onto the deck and start screaming at us for being rude and tells us they are calling the police!!! When we honestly honestly did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!! BUT STATE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE RUDE TO CUSTOMERS,!! THEY BOTH APPARENTLY HAVE SERIOUS ANGER ISSUES...WE AND NOW HEARD MANY OTHERS AS THEY WALKED AWAY SAY THEY WILL NEVER COME TO THIS PLACE AGAIN...ALSO THEY HAD CLOSED THE SEATING..PEOPLE WERE STANDING EATING .WE DO NOT KNOW WHY...AND CLOSED THE MENU TO ONLY HAVE BURGERS AND HOT DOGS..APPARENTLY THEY DID NOT ORDER ENOUGH INVENTORY/ SUPPILES FOR A FESTIVAL..(THEY WE NOTICED BUT WERE NOT USING) ) WE noticed open mayonnaise and condiments in bowls on a table on the patio for everyone to use with no covers and Flies were all over it..that was gross yet people were using them .because there was nothing else..BEWARE THESE OWNERS HAVE SERIOUS ANGER ISSUES AND JUST LOST US AND A HECK OF ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT WITNESSED HOW WE WERE TREATED FOR NO REASON...ESPECIALLY THE LINE OF PEOPLE AFTER MY DAUGHTER WHO ACTUALLY GOT OFF THE LINE TO ORDER AND LEFT BEWARE !!! Below the owner is lying as my daughter said to stop being rude to her and people witnessed this..that is why you lost a ton of people. Good luck with your anger issues your going...
