Vandiver Inn was the first and only place that we looked at when we started our wedding venue search because we knew we didn't need to look any further. Vandiver has everything you need all-in-one!
The staff have been nothing short of amazing and very responsive. Theresa was so sweet and worked with us to make our day successful. Everything ran smooth and on-time without any problems. We had made white pumpkin centerpieces with a range of purple, teal, and white flowers and foliage coming out of the top and I didn't even THINK to do what she did and have them line the ceremony chairs down the aisle. That was a pleasant surprise! Thank you so much Theresa!! You thought of allllll the little details the day of and made everything perfect!
Read morePlanning a wedding is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Add COVID into it and the uncertainty of knowing if I could even have my wedding and it was near impossible. Thank the heavens above I had an amazing vendor team, and the flagship of that team was the Vandiver Inn. Half of our guests and most of our bridal party were from out of town - so it was a HUGE help that they could all stay right on the property for the whole weekend. Check in was easy for everyone and flawlessly executed even during the challenging low-touch times of Covid. Everyone was made aware that normal housekeeping services wouldn’t be provided for everyone’s safety, but we were all informed that we could ask for anything we needed like extra towels or linens. The overnight innkeeper made sure to take special care of my grandmother, who had a room to herself on the first floor of the main house. The wedding itself was flawless. The staff worked so hard to accommodate my vision for my wedding day while still following guidelines and keeping everyone safe. When laws dictated that food must be served seated, making a normal “cocktail hour” impossible, they adapted the normal passed apps of cocktail hour to be a seated first course. Everyone raved over the food, from the unique small bites to the perfectly cooked steak. My husband and I were so full we almost couldn’t finish our dinner plates! The staff were so attentive to everyone as well, weaving in and out of the dance floor to keep tables clear of clutter and empty glasses. Everyone on staff made sure to wear masks and keep distance so everyone felt comfortable. The owner John also made sure to keep my guests informed about all of the rules and guidelines so that everyone knew the lay of the land and what to expect, so there were no surprises along the way. As a bride I couldn’t have possibly felt more appreciated and well taken care of, from the moment I signed our contract two years ago to the moment I left the property the day after my wedding. All of my questions were always answered thoroughly and honestly, and even as Covid raced across the world I was assured that as long as the laws allowed it, I would still have a wedding if I wanted to. I can’t say enough good things, as a business owner myself, about a business like this who values integrity and ethics above all else. John and Susan and everyone who works for the Vandiver are some of the most wonderful people you could ever meet, and my wedding would not have been nearly as wonderful without their help, guidance, and knowledge. Worth EVERY LAST PENNY we...
Read moreMy sister and I decided to visit Havre de Grace for Mardis Gras this year. We found this charming inn online, and she called to reserve a room. She asked about the options and the lady she talked with actually went to the room we were considering and lay down on the daybed so she could tell my sister how comfortable it was!! When we arrived, we found a charming Inn, consisting of about 3 buildings all lined up on the same street. Our checkin instructions were on the front porch of the main building in the location indicated on the email we received. We stayed in the Cockburn room, which was in the middle of the 3 buildings on the first floor. It was easy to access from the paved lot in the back, up a small ramp and then a small step into the room off of the side porch. The room was nicely appointed with a king sized bed and a daybed, both of which were very comfortable. The lights were all on when we arrived, and everything was sparkling clean. We have a jetted tub/shower in the bathroom, although neither of us tried the jets. There were extra blankets and a fan and iron and board in the closet in the bathroom. The room also had a desk, mini fridge and small microwave. There was a bench at the bottom of the bed, which was pretty but a bit low to sit on. The only thing missing from the room was a mirror, other than the one in the bathroom, to check your outfit or for one person to do hair or makeup while the other was in the bathroom. The Inn was hosting a “Bite Night” that evening in the pavilion behind the main building. It had roll down sides and was heated, so it was very comfortable. We ended up eating dinner in town, so we could watch the parade, but we returned to enjoy a piece of King Cake to end our evening. Kudos to pastry chef Hillary, as it was delicious!! The next morning, we walked over to the main building to partake of the included breakfast. Chef Hilary make us breakfast—my sister had the eggs and potatoes, while I enjoyed the Belgian Pearl Sugar waffle with raspberry cream cheese, and eggs with bacon. Both entrees were delicious! I dare say it was the best waffle over ever eaten. They also offered coffee from a Keurig, and juice in the little refrigerator, along with. some fresh made pastries, and other grab and go breakfast items like fruit, cereal and such. The setting was lovely with the gas fireplace making the room warm and cozy on a cold morning. After breakfast, we gathered our things from our room and returned our key to the front porch and were on our way. We would definitely stay...
