Me and my husband came to this spot as we walked by. Atmosphere wasn't too welcoming but we were hungry and just needed something asap. We both got the Ali'l Mix which was garlic fried boneless chicken (2 pieces), thin rib beef (1 slice decent size), 1 piece of fish (small filet) and kilua (decent amount), macaroni salad and white rice. Then got the Katsu Chicken as a side dish.
As for the meal , neither of us like any of it except for the thin beef. The macaroni salad was not seasoned at all, the Tartar sauce just tasted like unseasoned cheap mayo with no relish, the fish didn't seemed cooked all the way, the garlic chicken was hard and not seasoned. What disappointed me the most is I wanted to try the Katsu chicken, I specifically asked her what the Katsu sauce was on it, she showed me and said it was just a sweet sauce....disappointment kicked in when we finally opened our order to eat when we found the Katsu chicken just fried with NO sauce. Then the sauce she gave us on the side was BBQ sauce, not the Katsu sauce. (Picture attached) and the breading on the chicken had to type of flavor as well. I wouldn't recommend or come back...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, and I hate to bash on anything in Hawaii, but I just felt the need to share our experience here. Definitely the worst meal we’d had on our trip to Oahu. My husband and I stopped by for a quick meal before our flight back to the mainland. I got the mini katsu chicken and he got the loco moco lunch. I was watching the chef cook my food and I was honestly really grossed out. It looked like he picked up a chunk of soggy katsu chicken and just slapped it on the grill for a minute. When we got our food, every single piece of my chicken was fatty, chewy, and soggy. It was cold too! Like he didn’t even take the time to heat up the old leftover katsu. Just nasty. It was seriously inedible. Loco moco tasted like old beef, mac salad was literally just oily mayonnaise with some soggy noodles. Yikes. Service was quick, but very impersonal and cold. I hope the cashier is having better days in the future. Inside had no seating, was gloomy and dirty, and crammed with inventory that should’ve been kept in the kitchen. So sorry Fatboy’s! Would...
Read moreThe plate lunches here are terrible now. I loved eating here when I was growing up, but since becoming a tourist hot spot, it has gone down hill over the years. They're known for their garlic chicken, which is delicious if it's fresh.. But it's never fresh! They make a huge batch of it and let it sit all day. By time you get it, it's hard, dry and cold. Don't bother asking for a fresh batch; employees here are rude and get irritated with you if you do. Last time I ate here I ordered a Katsu Curry plate. The curry itself was watery and the rice was so hard it was like they scooped it straight from the bag to my plate. How can you not even get the rice right? It's rice, water, then you push a button: not very difficult! Go elsewhere for a local style...
