Kauai Chocolate Company — Restaurant in Hawaii

It amazes me that quite a few locals are unaware of the KAUA'I Chocolate Company by Port Allen. I've tried dozens (hundreds?) of different brands, varieties of dark chocolates throughout my life (incl. The likes of Lydgate Farms, Manoa, PHL Pennsylvania Dutch dark chocolate; the mainstream: Chocolove, Ghirardelli, Reese's, Dove, Justin's, et al). The Kaua'i Chocolate Company produces THE best dark chocolate (listed as 72%) I've ever tasted! Not too sweet and certainly not bitter. Rich in taste. The texture is, I think, what sells it: not brittle like other chocolates where when you bite it, you'll chip a tooth, this thing will - literally - melt in your mouth! Smooth, silky. Decadent.

Oh, and they have really good ice cream, too! The dark chocolate ice cream is equally as good as the bar...

What a total rip off. Six dollars for a tiny tiny scoop of ice cream. $11.99+ tax for a bar of soap. But, worst of all, $13.25 for artificially flavored chocolate. Please look at the ingredients on what you are buying. Unfortunately, just because it’s made locally, does not mean it’s any good. Everything they have is artificially flavored. This is an absolute scam and ridiculous. They’re just too cheap to buy decent ingredients. They are using vanillin, an artificial flavor instead of actual vanilla. Total sham, don’t waste your time. Also, we were the only people in there and the workers didn’t so much as look up at us. We walked in, looked around a little bit and walked straight out. Don’t waste your time, you’ll get better and more natural ingredients with a Hershey candy bar...

Kauai Chocolate Company serves the most amazing ice cream I’ve ever had—so good that I even had a dream about the flavors! This was hands-down the best ice cream experience of my life. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient, letting us sample different flavors before deciding on our favorites. We ended up with the World Famous Kauai Opihi Chocolate, Strawberry Chip, and Lucky Charms. Each flavor was unforgettable, with creamy textures and rich, perfectly balanced tastes that left us wanting more.
