My experience at this hotel's Italian restaurant was profoundly underwhelming, meriting a one-star review. The initial disappointment began with the salad—priced at an astonishing $85 for two, which came meagerly portioned and included a mere two shrimp as the protein. However, the quality and size of the salad, though far from meeting the expectations set by the price, were not my primary concern.
The real issue lay in the customer service, or rather, the complete lack of it. At a large hotel in Hawaii, where guests come to relax and enjoy their vacation, one would expect customer service to be of the highest priority. Unfortunately, that was far from what I experienced. The staff member, Desiree, displayed an attitude and demeanor that were anything but welcoming. Her approach to customer service was so poor that, were she an employee of mine, I would not hesitate to let her go.
Good service is about making customers feel valued and welcome, something that was sorely missing from my visit. This experience aligns perfectly with the restaurant's overall poor rating. To draw a comparison for potential customers, the salad I received was akin to something one might expect from McDonald's—only far more expensive and without the accompanying service quality.
For a restaurant situated in a vacation haven like Hawaii, particularly within a large hotel, both the quality of the meals and the caliber of customer service should reflect the premium setting. I strongly advise the management to focus on creating genuinely delicious dishes and, more importantly, to invest in proper staff training. Customers deserve to feel welcomed and valued, not to leave feeling disappointed and disregarded.

Read moreWe ate here our first night. We had a 7:00 reservation. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and were seated promptly. Our waitress was Gayle who was very nice but not attentive at all. We ordered the meat lovers half pizza with extra cheese and hold half the sausage on one side. 45 minutes later, no one came by our table once, not even the runner who fills the drinks. Our pizza arrived by a runner. He just put it on the table and walked away. It was wrong . No extra cheese which is an additional charge which is understandable, but there was sausage on the whole pizza. I had to stand up and flag Gayle down to tell her. She was very apologetic and took it back and had one remaid. 25 minutes later, after a 16 hour flight with a layover, we were exhausted. The pizza came and it barely had any cheese on it. As you can see from the picture, there is only cheese on the one slice to the left. Absolutely none on the other slices . We just ate it and didn't say anything. We had to bring our empty glasses up to the bar to be refilled. When we were done eating, I had to flag Gayle down for the check. We were charged for the extra cheese even though there was barely any cheese on it. The pizza was good but not worth the whopping price. My husband and I are Hilton diamond members and Platinum carnival members. We are world travelers. Resort prices are higher, but the prices here at this resort is ridiculous. You can have Domino's delivered there but you must pick up at the...
Read moreWe were so delighted to find an Italian restaurant with focaccia like we had in Rome! The lobster chowder was excellent and was big enough for us to share. It would have been better had they provided two little strips of foccacia to go with it, knowing that we were intending on sharing it before our main meal. My husband had the foresight to order the foccacia separately. We also enjoyed the pepperoni and salami Roman pizza. This pizza was plenty big enough at the smaller portion or half size for us to eat and take some home. The crust is thick but it is so full of wonderful air bubbles that it doesn't seem like you're eating a brick as some focaccias do. I don't particularly like salami but this was really tasty and lean. It's important to know that the restaurant is at the opposite end of the resort from the entrance. The valet parking is free if you're using that restaurant, which is a real plus considering the cost of parking around the Hilton. Take the tram to the restaurant if you have any issues with walking. If not you can walk to the right, down a long hall that has some very interesting objets d'art from Asia. I would give myself time to read several of the plaques just to enjoy the experience of basically going to a museum on the way to dinner. We were seated very quickly once we arrived. The restaurant has two walls open to the air which views a garden, but it does have what looks like some air conditioning and fans on the interior. I wouldn't go...
