Can't you see? You & Lee, were meant to be!
Had the great honor to attend Lee's Sanwiches Grand Opening in Hawaiian Gardens.
To commemorate the occasion, Lee's offered either a free Vietnamese iced coffee or baguette with the purchase of a sandwich the whole day. Being a fan of Lee's cheap banh mi's and superstrong coffee, I jumped at the chance to be the very first in line for this special event.
The employees were training, which is understandable. They were going through the in's & out's of the ordering process. My order took a little while longer than it should have, but I wasn't perplexed. Free mini-banh mi sandwiches, manjoo & iced coffee samples kept me happy as I waited for my order.
Attending Grand Opening events, you just never know who you'll have a photo-op with. Me, I just happened to snap a few pics next to THE Mr. Lee, himself! The official photographer also snapped a few pics of myself - with Mr. Lee, ordering at the register & with the employees giving out free food outside the entrance. Hey, I can't help that the camera loves me! ;p
For less than $4, you can have a tasty combination banh mi. A really great value with a good portion-size, the combo banh mi won't cause you to have a food baby. Wash that down with the liquid crack iced coffee, and that's what I call lunch.
Of course, the place was spotless, with a few tables for dining in. Parking is in a private lot, anchored by a Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Lee's Sandwiches, glad to see you in Hawaiian Gardens. When I don't want to deal with the parking situation at the Artesia location, I won't hesitate to stop by & give my teeth a workout by gnawing on your crusty baguette bread sandwiches, with a iced coffee pick me up.

Read moreI post this review first by stating I'm a huge fan of Lee's Sandwiches. I have been for years. But at this location, the service is the worst I've encountered for this franchise. I've been burned by this place twice now and that's enough for me. The first time was when I purchased three sandwich platters for my daughter's birthday and they forgot to get going on the order when I came in to pick up. I gave them ample notice by walking into the store in the morning to place the order and when I returned hours later (and an hour before the party started) it was clear by their shocked faces they had completely forgotten about it.
The second time was recent and it involved an error on their part that they were unwilling to fix. We ordered 5 vegetarian sandwiches, and they punched in the wrong number for the type of sandwich. When we noticed they had given us the wrong sandwiches they were unwilling to make the order correct telling us that we should have "checked our receipt". At the time of ordering the sandwiches, they had repeated back our order, so the idea of proofreading for their mistakes never crossed our minds. Errors like these happen all the time in the food service industry and we were shocked at how adamant they were that this mistake was our fault.
I love Lee's Sandwiches, but this store should be avoided. It's clear the staff is incompetent and...
Read moreGenerally speaking, the sandwiches are pretty good. But the customer service at the Hawaiian Gardens location is poor. I had a bad experience when ordering and the cashier was rude. Apparently, the drink items on the menu are not all available. Nevertheless, it is important for the employees to maintain their composure and be courteous. Instead, this young man became upset and in a rude tone responded by saying, "I told you we don't have items from that side [of the menu]." I gave this location the benefit of the doubt, but will drive to the next closest Lee's...
