We normally book with La Quinta and the hotels are actually quite decent, but this location was a downer. The hotel is in a great location - lots of stores, restaurants, fast food options within driving distance. The hotel itself just seemed old and dirty. Walking into the lobby there’s a small industrial fan on the ground by the seating area to cool the very muggy room. Throughout the hotel all the windows were open too. We were unsure if the AC in the hotel in general was down. The receptionist was attentive and helpful when we asked to change rooms due to the first one having issues - AC was at 60 but not cooling, fridge was not working, room was by the street and could hear everything. Second room was a lot better. The free breakfast was a let down. Not that many options and many of the stations weren’t being refilled (ex coffee, hot water..). There was little things that just grossed us out on our stay - hole in the ceiling, carpet was lifted in the corners of the room, spider by the coffee/water station, water dispenser tray was yellow and water hasn’t been emptied in awhile. Very disappointed.

This location is in the amazing NE Long Beach/ Cypress area. Great atmosphere for walking and restaurants to choose from. My issue with the property was, on the night of my stay there was no water for hours, and when the water was turned back on. The guest had no hot water to shower with. I reported the issue to the front desk @ 9:30 p.m. and again to the overnight clerk, Diana @ 5:30 a.m. Both clerks were apologetic and tried unsuccessfully to fix the issue. So to them, I give a Bravo Zulu. As to @AARP Travel and Manager Bryan who hasn't responded to my request for a refund since June 26, 2025. I give him a failing grade for his lack of customer service, for not even acknowledging the health issue that impacted several hotel guests. As for AARP Travel, I give them a failing grade as well for offering a $25 voucher to settle the matter. I have never stayed at a hotel in my 36 years of traveling that was unable to provide basic needs for a stay. R, A disappointed guest

So it’s 5am right now and I had to call the front desk because all night I’ve been smelling urine. I thought it was the pillows and it wasn’t so I couldn’t take the smell anymore. I decided to smell the body of the bed and it’s a STRONG urine smell. I pulled the sheets back and now the smell filled the room. Someone urinated in this bed and they didn’t do a great job cleaning it because it’s strong. Front desk apologized and offered to move my room which I’ll gladly do now that I can’t sleep in this bed/room. This is a total waste of my points :( This is room 419 and I’m now being moved to room 103. The lady at the desk is very nice but it’s unfortunate that I have to pack up and leave after just getting here last night. UPDATE: Room 103 has a roach in it. And it’s a handicap room.

Ah, La Quinta. Everything was great up until our last night: Someone used a piece of broken curb to smash my friends driver side window in. Nothing stolen, thankfully. It was either a random act of vandalism or they were scared off by the alarm. Now there are signs posted all over about the hotel not being liable for cars parked there, and I wasn't looking for some kinda compensation or apology, but some cooperation and empathy would have been nice. Unfortunately, it took some angry words to even get that. The police came and we filed our report, but the staff would not let them see the tape of the camera that was directly pointed at her car, they only let them view the live feed. They said only managers could allow the video to be handed over or viewed. We were told we could get the actual video in the morning. I spent the entire evening awake and paranoid, constantly leaving my room to check on the vehicle and it's contents. The next morning is when we found out some shady things had gone down: Staff had cleaned all the broken glass up outside of the car, but apparently failed to mention the cause of it to the managers, because they had no idea about our incident. We explained what had happened, and they hadn't heard ANYTHING about it from staff. But they were quick to clean up the evidence of it... This set me off, because you're quick to clean up and sweep the incident away, but you can't even make it a priority to let your management know or contact us? Also, the car alarm went off during the incident, and the hotel has every car and license on hand, but no one went out to check on it and contact us? So we let them know our 5 star review from the previous nights would be swiftly changed and that we were stunned by this apparent disregard of our safety and trust with the hotel. Thankfully, the GM was there and we spoke with her. She assured us that they would get the police the video and would refund us our final evening, seeing as none of us really felt safe enough to sleep afterwards. But, when we contacted the police department a few days later, they hadn't received anything from La Quinta, and our refund was less than what was shown on the receipt, and took almost a week to process.

So, I have very mixed feelings on my stay here. The first few nights we're just fine for a non-luxury hotel, being pet-friendly was a huge benefit, but the way this random vandalism that occurred on their property was handled by their staff really put me off of staying at this chain again. The GM was thoughtful and curteous in person, but to not have handed over the security footage days later makes me feel that it was merely to get us to go on our way and...

Well it's out 2nd visit here. The 1st time we visited it was ok. We come out once a month and since our 1st visit thereafter we stayed at the Buena Park La Quinta which we absolutely love. This La Quinta is smaller, dingy and usually the higher prices of the two. It's a few miles closer to our location/event we attend. I should've went with my gut and chose Buena Park again saved the extra $9 for gas money and enjoy my usual stay at Buena Park. We drove up checked in and guess what? No parking available. The parking lot is small and they had a truck with a trailer attached that parked in the back along at least 5 parking space and then they had another construction big truck parked at a slant taking over about another 5 parking spaces. The desk attendant told my husband to park wherever he could, which was a spot next to the jacuzzi where overwhelming smells of marijuana came from 2 guests smoking at about 1045pm. We made ourselves a spot and got to the room. In the shower greeted us a big crack in the tub that was attempted to be covered with plaster. I thought to my self....is the water going down the next room below us? If I hurt myself can I own this La Quinta? Why they did they think this plaster would cover up or even temporarily fix this big crack? Should I ask for another room? I was tired so we went to bed. The next morning the showering was a task my husband pinched his foot a couple times and I just adjusted the shower head trying my best to avoid the spot. Did I mention there's only one very slow elevator for 4 floors? But the stairwell is short steps and we all need extra steps in our lives. Wait they also closed the front doors where the only elevators are after 1130pm and you can only enter from the side/back door. If you need the elevator you will need to walk down the uneven corridor all the way to the elevator. If your able I recommend the stairs for any up and down travel. So, nevertheless we will not come back here for our monthly visit. We love La Quinta as they are military friendly and pet friendly. Our Buena Park La Quinta truly makes us feel at home and so that's where...

I travel for work & do content for hotels & LET ME TELL YOU! Let’s start this off with saying, my gut was telling me not to stay here but I did anyways. First off the rooms are not cleaned properly. You can tell when you walk in they do a rush job, no sanitation, nada! I was curious why there was dog fur on the computer chair & little couch.

Secondly , I was eating food & spilled some of the juice on the sheets. Accidents happen & I have been to plenty of hotels where they are kind enough to clean it & even help you clean it.

NOT THIS ONE! Tell me why I asked for room service. It’s late in the DAY! Like 4pm! This Mexican lady ( who seems like they know she has an attitude) comes in & looks like she’s already mad! She had an attitude “cleaning the room!” She didn’t wipe down Anything! Catches an attitude about the stain! I told her it was Food! So it’s going to come out easily!

She “changes” the sheets but they are STILL DIRTY! I did a nice check of them too! As someone who travels for work, do social media for hotels & such! I made sure to check & to my surprise! Still dirty sheets & I was extremely itchy sleeping in them!

Now, if I wouldn’t have went downstairs to tell them about the room! I wouldn’t have known they were going to charge me for the “stains” I told them that’s unacceptable because I have seen worse & hotels don’t charge for a FOOD STAIN! I told them you’re not charging me! Long behold she said the MAID TOLD them to charge for it! I got the “ she’s always mean & stubborn!” I told her then why do you guys have her working here.

Couldn’t say anything! So absolutely! I want all my coins back from this place! I will be telling others not to stay here on social media as well! Your service is not good & not friendly! Yall don’t clean nada, you have bedbugs because i heard a person in the hotel talk about it & they weren’t lying! I checked! And fix your elevator! That’s DANGEROUS! Also there is MOLD IN THEIR ICE! Do not get the ice out their vending machines! I saw cobwebs , green mold & all that in the machine &...
