Overall - a positive experience!
Finding Tacos Sahuayo wasn't too hard in the strip mall plaza. Coming in on a Saturday at lunchtime, it was moderately busy with a lot of tables all over. The cashier was super nice and easily able to order. It helped to know a little bit of Spanish in ordering and asking questions. Once I ordered (along with ordering water), I sat at a comfy table nearby. After about waiting 5-7 minutes, the food came out and gave it all a try!
I got the carne asada combo (#3). This came with two pretty big pieces of carne asada, grilled onions, lettuce, beans, rice, and flour tortillas. I believe everyone also got a small order of chips and salsa. At the table was a green crema sauce and a red slightly hot spicy sauce. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal! The sauces were all nice to have and add onto the various parts of the plate. It felt plentiful but not overly filling. My favorite parts were the sauces, the tortilla (tasted fresh and great), and the grilled onions.
Definitely would love to visit again...
Read moreThere's a lot of mexican food options on Carson but Sahuayo is a must try! The storefront isn't very appealing but inside you'll find its very clean and houses friendly positive employees. I'm a firm believer that food handlers must be this way or I go elsewhere.
I ordered using yelp, basic Bacon breakfast burrito. I called about 10 minutes after ordering and to my surprise, it was ready!
The tortilla chips are so exquisite they must be made in house. No other establishment on carson can hold a candle to these. Not too thin not too thick , crunchy and great flavor.
The salsa options are delightful! i tried the red and green. Fresh and spicy with perfect amount of flavor.
The burrito had pico de gallo which wouldn't be my first choice but it wasn't bad. Hash brown was soft and everything was moist in a good a way. Next time i'll ask for no pico, crispy hashbrown and bacon. Add a slither of refried beans and a little cheese. Overall good exp. will...
Read moreI am on the fence between three and four stars. There are things that I liked about this place, it's a hole in the wall, their food is fresh, the staff is friendly, and they fry their own tortilla chips. But unfortunately their are aspects of the restaurant I wasn't particularly fond of, food was bland, the floors were a bit dirty, and the interior just feels cheap. With any restaurant though, it's the food that matters, and while flavors were mostly good, everything could have used a pinch or two of salt. The worst was my chicken flauta that tasted like little more than nothing. I did enjoy their red salsa. Most chile rojo is all about being hot with little other flavor, but here is the reverse. Not as hot as if expected, but the flavor was excellent. I really wanted to like this place, but it's a solid three and...
